Sample Class Experience: Visual Communication Technology (VCT) @ BGSU

Monday, March 15, 2021 at 6:00 PM until 7:00 PMEastern Daylight Time UTC -04:00

For students interesting in the Visual Communication Technology (VCT) program at BGSU, join us for this unique opportunity to sample a class first-hand.

Hosted by Dr. Jerry Schnepp, an Associate Professor of VCT at BGSU, this sample class will feature a workshop centered around Creative Problem-Solving through Human-Centered Design.

Dr. Schnepp is a technologist, designer, and creative problem-solver who teaches courses in Interactive Media, Usability, User Experience, and Augmented and Virtual Reality.

    From Dr. Schnepp:
"Human-centered design is an approach to problem-solving that involves gathering insight, brainstorming, prototyping, and iterating. It has been used in many contexts to facilitate creativity and innovation.

Far from simple creativity exercises, the human-centered design methodology systematically approaches problems from the user's’ perspective. It encourages wild ideas and cross-disciplinary collaborations that generate testable solutions.

Participants in this workshop will learn the human-centered design approach to problem-solving. They will collaborate in teams to empathize and creatively ideate effective solutions. They will reflect on the process and share how they might integrate this approach into their work."

Don't miss this opportunity to experience the ways BGSU faculty design lessons so they're engaging, real-world activities - beyond just a typical lecture.
