Student Life Info Session: Writing Your BGSU Story
Here they call from God.
Nail.
Hello everyone Kelly, you might have to go on mute. I think I'm getting a little bit of an echo.
Oh OK, I will do that.
Hello everyone welcome. Hello, I'm Brandy bar height and welcome to the BGSU Student Life Info session. Writing your BGSU story. So we just give it maybe like 3045 more seconds to make sure that everybody who wants to be here with us this afternoon is here. This is part of our virtual Presidents Day weekend. Maybe you've already been attending sessions with us earlier today. Maybe you're going to be with us again tomorrow. I'll make sure throughout this presentation that I share those opportunities.

Welcome everyone!
I'm actually on campus right now and we have a lot of in person tours happening, so we'll share some information about that as well, but I'm going to go ahead and get started and introduce your presenter, Kellyanne Krotine. She is an admissions counselor in the Office of Admissions, and she today is going to talk about student life writing your BGSU story. I'm going to be your lead moderate are we have two other admission folks who are going to say hi in the chat right now. That is where you can ask questions throughout the presentation. So if you have something on your mind

want clarification on something that Kelly mentioned, we can answer that there. But also keep in mind that I'll keep a list of questions and then I'm going to pop on camera after Kelly is done and we're going to kind of do like a Q&A so the questions can keep coming in and Kelly can keep answering them. So I'm gonna say goodbye and Kelly is going to say hello and give a little bit of a longer introduction. So alright, bye everyone, see you soon.

And you get to write your own story based off of all of the activities you can get involved in the resources that we have. All kinds of things. And like Brandi mentioned, please use this chat. The more you use it during the presentation, ask your questions. Comment whenever you relate to something. The more fun it is. So if you want to go ahead and start, just introduce yourself in the chat. If you want to list your name, your hometown, and then if there's something that you're involved in in high school that you want to be involved in in college.

Or maybe it's something new that you want to try and go ahead and just drop it in the chat so I know I would've said my name is Kelly. I'm from Englewood originally and something that I'm interested in is choir. That's something I love to do in high school. Something cool to take on with you to college, so let's go ahead and get started as you're all typing up your introductions. So why get involved in college? This is honestly the thing that can really reinforce who you already are, or even recreate who you are.

Like we said, college is just as blank slate where you could just start fresh. There are going to be. Some people may be coming from your hometown that you know or maybe nobody at all. But it's just a great time to reinvent anything that you want to. If you want to be someone who's healthier if you want to be someone who tries to study a little bit more than you used to. If you want to step outside of your comfort zone and join a couple of organizations, awesome, this is the place to do it. So reinforce or recreate who you are or a little bit of both. Find your home away from home.

We see that students who are most attached to campus and who feel most at home and comfortable, or the ones who are getting involved, so it's great to take that step, get to know other people. This is really the way that you get to know people who are coming from all over around the world and you get to make this Falcons nest your home and then try something new and we'll get to this in a little bit. But we have so many organizations of all different kinds, so maybe you want to get involved in the fishing club or the Surfing Club. You know there's no ocean near Bowling Green.
Evan Maynard
01:04:33 PM
I'm Evan Maynard and I would love to play waterpolo at BG.
Katherine Fischer
01:04:35 PM
Hello! I am Katherine, and I am from an area around Dayton, Ohio.
You can do that, or if you want to get involved in student government. If you want to learn how to crochet, there are so many different types of student organizations based around activities majors. Whatever it is, you will find your fit. So let's talk a little bit about how that works.
Rachel Sprecher

I'm Rachel and I'm from Deleware Oh. I'm interested in orchestra and water ski club
Jack Larson
01:05:05 PM
Jack Larson from Grayslake, IL. I am interested in intramural sports.
Getting involved this is my get involved dance. I always do that when we talk about getting involved because it's such an exciting thing. So there are so many ways to do this at BGSU. First of all, we have over 400 student organizations. I know I was kind of touching on those in the last slide, but seriously, anything that you can think of, we probably have a club for it if we don't for some reason. You can think of when we don't have. You can grab a few friends and make your own organization too, which is really cool.

Anyone want to be a college mascot?! We are revealing the students behind the costumes tonight. Check it out - https://www.facebook.com/OfficialBGSU/posts/10164733999070004
Dylan Peaco
01:05:45 PM
Hi, my name is Dylan and I am from Norwalk, Ohio.
We have groups of people who write letters of encouragement to people who might need some support. We have LGBTQ groups, religious groups. We have a multi culture, cultural groups. We have activity based groups or major groups, so all kinds of ways that you can really find your fit. I know my freshman year I jumped into like 8 different student organizations that might have been extreme, but maybe you just want to jump into one or two. That's awesome. Great way to get involved. We also have.
A ton of students who participate in service learning, so this is basically finding a way to give back over 9000 students who are doing this. We have something called Dance Marathon where we raised money every year for the Children's Miracle Network and how we do this is students volunteer to stand on their feet for 24 hours straight and if you ask me, it's a lot to be awake for 24 hours straight. But this is just such a cool way to raise that money. Have some fun. They teach everyone a line dance while they're there.
Bring in a bunch of food entertainment so we keep it fun at BGSU, you can join different learning communities based around community service too. And basically that means you living in a hallway with a bunch of people who have that same heart to give back. Sports are huge at BGSU 218 Division One teams, so anything that you could think of like football, hockey, soccer and all athletic events are free for students to go to as well. So even if you don't want to be.
David Johnston
01:07:14 PM
Interactive Poll:
Could you stand for 24 hours straight at Dance Marathon?
Sarah Syed
01:07:18 PM
Hi I'm Sarah Syed and I am from just outside of Dayton, OH
Play in Division One. You can definitely get to those stands in tear the Falcons on. We have 23 club organizations too so these clubs are still competitive. They travel around to other schools and compete but not quite on that Division One level. So if you still are a competitive person, you can join those two and then 56 intermural teams. So this is BGSU students playing against other BGSU students more. So just for fun. So you're not traveling around. It's not a huge commitment. There is even an intermural cornhole team.
Brandi Barhite
01:07:24 PM
This is still our very best hype video when we opened our Stroh Center for athletic events - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxNJJgs08Xg
If you want to call yourself a college athlete, you can join that. I know David just dropped a poll. If you want to participate in that in that app. So he said, could you stand for 24 hours straight at Dance Marathon? Will let us know. Yep, alot of you are with me. I love that. And then we also have sorority and fraternity life too. So Greek life. In other words, if you want to join a sorority or fraternity, that's awesome. About 12 to 13% of our campus is Greek and so they do a lot of community service.
As well alot of social events, it's a great way to have a lot of friends right off the bat.
So how do you do this? What does it look like to get involved first half you will get here for opening weekend if you decide to commit to BGSU and I know some of you have already, which is awesome and this is the time where you really get to meet other people on your floor. They have a ton of events to go to and the coolest part is that your group that travels around you'll have a leader who's in Upperclassmen, but your group is going to be full of people from your hallway. So that means you get to know people that first weekend that you're going to be with all year.
David Johnston
01:08:29 PM
Interactive Poll:
Greek Life anyone?
And this is where you meet some of your best friends. I know that I still stay in touch with people from my floor my freshman year, 2 which is so fun. You also get to go and see if you can find your classes. If you feel like a little bit nervous about jumping on a new campus, there will be that leader who can take you around and show you where different buildings are, where your classes are so you can get a little bit acclimated. Learn campus traditions. If any of you have been on a campus visit, you know that you can see our campus seal and we always walk to the right of it because it said if you walked to the left.
You have bad luck on your next exam, so that's just a fun tradition. We follow an we have so many of them explore student organizations. This is a great time to start to learn a little bit more about student organizations too. Alright, this is important, so if you're not listening to me, listen to me right now. OK, we have a class Facebook page and this is a great opportunity to meet other students before you even decide if you want to come to Bowling Green. Or maybe your decided and you just want to meet people before you get here. But something we're doing this Monday on that Facebook page.
Brandi Barhite
01:09:54 PM
Here is the 2025 FB group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/709540823186497
Is we're going to have a bunch of different student organizations posting just a little bit about there? Sooner organization and you can comment your email address on those posts, so again, this will happen Monday between about 10:30 in the morning and noon. You can go to those post, comment your email address, say yes, I'm interested in the surfing club. Send me more information. And one of those leaders will get in touch with you on those student organization presidents. So that's a great way to get to know people too. Thank you Brandy. She just dropped our Facebook page in the chat, so feel free to join that.
Brandi Barhite
01:10:18 PM
Worth joining, even if you don't have FB right now. Set up that profile.
And that's a great place to meet roommates too, and just a built that Falcons nest before you even get here. And then things that you can express interest in now to outside of that Facebook page are club sports and our Falcon Marching Band. We have a Falcon Marching band interest form that you can fill out if you want someone to get in touch with you about that. We also have club sports information posted on line and you can reach out to our organization in case you have any questions or just want to learn more too.
Alright, so campus activities and I love these pictures, especially that top one on the top left corner and that one is recent so you can tell our students are being a little bit social distance something to keep in mind is it's so important even in a pandemic just to build that Falcon family so we do provide those opportunities both in person and virtually if you want to get to know other students, get involved and just participate in the fun you'll see on the bottom right hand corner we have something called the big gay. Welcome back. This is an LGBTQ and.

Want to see what the Winter Wonderland was like here on campus? https://www.facebook.com/OfficialBGSU/videos/winter-wonderland/771632890119751/
Ally event and they put it on every year. I just invite our students to campus, which is a really inclusive campus and we want students to feel at home here too. We have comedy shows that go on every single week, so that's that bottom middle image so you can tune into those and those are virtual so anyone can watch. You can grab your roommate. It's a great time to sit down and have some laughs too as you're in between your homework and your studies and everything.
Lacey Meggitt
01:11:43 PM
i love that !
Campus activities so we put on a ton of programming events. Even with a pandemic going on, we make sure that everything is safe for students. All of our students are wearing masks, keeping that social distance, but they're also getting to interact with each other. So we.

Here is the form to express interest in the Falcon Marching Band - https://www.bgsu.edu/musical-arts/ensembles/bands/athletic-bands/ContactFMB.html
Winterfest when all of our students got back to campus this semester, they had train rides around campus. They had a big skating rink on a big greenery. Part of our campus called Old Campus, so this was a fun time just for students to hang out, get excited about being back after winter break and get to spend time together. Falcons after dark, It's an event going on every single Friday and this is where you can have fun. Do black light mini golf. They turn our ballroom into a skate rink sometimes.
Always something fun that you can hang out with other friends to Martin Luther King Day. It's our day of service and we have so many community service projects you can get involved in. If you want to do 1 where you just donate something and you don't want to be around people, that's fine, but if you want to go out and do a service project, get some friends together, make a project you can make that happen to social justice seminars. These go on all year long. It's a great time just to learn from different people who have experienced some awesome things.
Brandi Barhite
01:13:04 PM
Want to be recruited for a club sport? Use this form - https://admissions.bgsu.edu/register/club-sports-interest
LGBTQ plus events. We have comedians like I said concerts Nick Jonas an Kesha have been here. Tickets are only like $15 for students to go to those two so it's a really great opportunity just to have some fun and they make it really affordable to movie nights at our student union leadership retreats and campus mentors. If you're nervous about coming to campus and you want someone to be your mentor and upperclassmen, you can sign up for that on our campus activities page. 2 Once you get here.
Then we have sporting events which are awesome. I know I wasn't a super big hockey fan before I got here, but now it's my all time favorite sport. Like I said, basketball football, you name it, we probably have that sport. There is even a Quidditch team people running around on Broomsticks celebrating Harry Potter. It's awesome and then Arts X is a festival that we have every year. People just displaying all kinds of art. There's even live art there like improv comedy or theater.
You can catch that too.

Maybe you're nervous about this transition to college. The cool thing is that every student has an opportunity to have a life design coach and this is someone who helps you to exactly like it. Sounds design your life. Maybe that is finding internships or getting plugged into a specific organization, or starting one up whatever it is they are here for you. And that's nice that you have that personal connection to kind of help you with that transition to college too.
And then you are so well supported too. So I know we've talked about all of these fun things that you can get involved in. Maybe you're like? Wait a minute, Kelly, what? What about school? I'm here for that too, right? Is there any time if I'm involved in 19 organizations to do my math homework? Obviously school comes first, so we want to make sure that you have those resources to be well supported so we have the learning Commons. This is free tutoring that you get as a student. They have certain times that you can sign up for.
Brandi Barhite
01:15:01 PM
I am going to be hopping on camera to ask Callie questions in a few minutes. What do you want me to ask her?
If you can't meet the regular times, so there will be this white board and it's posted on line when you walk into the library saying if you need chemistry. Tutoring, come here Thursday at 7:00 o'clock. You can go right there, and if you can't make it, you can set up a personal appointment to academic advising. Every student has an academic advisor who make sure that you know you're taking the right classes at the right time. Mine helped me to network with people in my field so I could know how to best prepare so they are so helpful.
Then we have our writing center. If you need help writing papers or just want someone to review it for grammar purposes or help you to generate ideas, you can definitely do that there too. Then our Office of Access ability Services. If you're someone who has a 504 plan or an IEP, or if you just need some accommodations due to some sort of circumstance, you can work with that office of Access ability Services and they will help to get you those accommodations that you need. And we also have academic coaching.
Every residence Hall has an academic peer mentor who has hours in the evening where you can come down there and just sit with them. Study with them. I know a lot of students before they get to college. They are in some easier classes. They might not know how to really sit down and study for an exam, so we will help you with that too.

Connect with Accessibility Services here: https://www.bgsu.edu/accessibility-services.html
All right, we've got this. A couple more slides, then we'll move on to some question and answer. So campus resources that are here for you too. We have our rec center, which is awesome. You can take exercise classes there if you want to do like Zumba or water aerobics. There are so many machines on the bottom floor with different weight equipment and on the top floor we have cardio. This is a pretty new facility. An honestly really awesome. There are two pools. There's even a sauna and a hot tub. So if you want to just go and say you've used the rec center.
Brandi Barhite
01:17:18 PM
419-372-3000! COVID hotline.
You can go to the sauna in the hot tub and head out, but I would recommend exercising so that's good for your mental health and will help you to concentrate too. Then we also have our Chief Health Officer Ben Batey, who helps with everything covid related so we even have a covid hotline. If you have questions or concerns or coming across something that you don't know about, you can all be. You can absolutely call that anytime and ask them questions to our Wellness connection to provides all kinds of resources for students to really become their best self.
Brandi Barhite
01:17:42 PM
Keep the questions coming. Kylie and James - I will ask Callie your questions.
In every aspect of life. So they put on different workshops throughout the year, whether it's about physical Wellness, mental well being, even financial well being, and things like that they want to make sure students are prepared and Falcon Fitness too. So we talked about those group exercise courses. That's something you can attend, and they do those events virtually too. If you just want to be in your residence Hall room, you know, just following an instructor you can absolutely do that.
Alright, a couple takeaways for ya. Then we'll grab into that Q&A session. So over 300 students every single semester are participating in Co. OPS internships and getting involved in their field. Over 300 students, and it's so easy to do even your freshman year. If you want an internship, go to our Career Center, let them know they'll help you to make your resume the best it can be, and I'll even do practice interviews with you to help you nail that interview.
Maybe you're overwhelmed. You don't know how to look for internships. They will help you to get connected with your career counselor there and then. We also have 3500 students who participate in student employment on campus. You can have a job on campus. Maybe that is working at the rec center. When I was a student I was a Zumba instructor and it was so fun to get paid to do that. Or maybe you want to work at the dining Hall or at the library. There are all kinds of student office jobs on campus too. A lot of ways to.
LaShaunda Brown-Perez

Learn more about the Falcon Internship Guarantee Program here: https://www.bgsu.edu/career-center/students-and-alumni/falcon-internship-guarantee.html
Get some extra spending money because we all know that college students you know they're rolling on a budget, so we want to make sure that you have that extra cash to be able to spend too. As far as time commitment, that can be anywhere between 8 hours a week and 28 hours a week. So up to you how much time you work, but we want to make sure that school silks comes first and they are very flexible with students with that too.
Brandi Barhite
01:19:15 PM
Alex - I see that SOAR question about orientation. We will address that. We have good news, though - it's in person!
And then this is the biggest takeaway 97% of our graduates. 97% people report that within six months of graduation they're either employed in their field. They're moving on to grad school in a field that they're passionate about, or they're starting up their own business. So that is a 97% success rate. And who says you can't be apart of that by joining the BGSU family? You're going to be. We want to make sure that you have the tools and resources that you need so it starts with getting involved, but it goes way beyond there.
So I'm going to go ahead and open up the floor. Feel free to use this this chat right here. Ask all the questions that you have. We are here for you.
I'm back home.
I don't know if you notice that when we first started, you mentioned that you sing and I was like are you going to sing for us today?
That's in the next webinar.
OK, will drop the link and sign up for that, but we do have a few questions so I'm just going to jump right into your mention of Harry Potter has led to some interest from Kaylee. How do we get involved with the Quidditch team?
Kylie Schmehl
01:20:22 PM
How do we get involved with the Quidditch team?
Awesome question, so I would recommend getting in touch with your admissions counselor or posting on that class Facebook page so if you don't know who your admissions counselor is yet, we can definitely post that link one.
And so if you post if you post on that class Facebook page or if you descend your admissions counselor, an email will put you in touch with someone from the Quidditch team. Another way is at the beginning of the year we have Campus Fest where you can see every single organization that's available. So if you head there, you can definitely find the Quidditch team and find some contact information to get involved.
David Johnston
01:21:02 PM
You can find your counselor here: https://www.bgsu.edu/admissions/contact-us/find-your-counselor.html
Kelly, was that the acquitted coach coming in behind you?
Like it?
Oh yeah, Yep it was. I told him to go away.
James Dages
01:21:30 PM
do students in the various programs seem to gravitate to specicfic dorms?
Catch you later. Alright, so that was a great uh. Follow up for that. Thank you so much. This is a really good question from James. Do students in various programs seem to gravitate towards specific dorms? So maybe answer that as far as certain academic majors, but also certain extracurricular activities.
David Johnston
01:21:57 PM
The full list of Learning Communities are here! https://www.bgsu.edu/learning-and-theme-communities.html
Yeah, good question. So we have something called learning communities. If you want to live around other people who have that same interest or major as you. So a couple of them that we have off the top of my head, we have a learning community for business majors, forensic science education majors, construction management, aviation. So all of these you can find on our residence Life website and you can see if maybe you're interested in something I didn't mention. We might have one there, but there are also ones for interests too.
If you want to live around other people who like to do community service or who want to talk about faith and spirituality or who want to practice and learn a certain language, you can definitely do that too.
Starlink for learning communities?
Alright, what the questions were coming, yeah will will this ones not necessarily related activities but they will learn more about activities when they're there. Will freshman orientation be virtual or in person? And maybe one of the moderators can drop the sore orientation link into the chat too for Alex.
Alex Waltrich
01:22:37 PM
Will freshman orientation be virtual or in person?
Yeah, so it will be both. You get to choose between the two will have in person opportunities if you want to get a little more acclimated to campus. But we also have virtual opportunities to. Maybe your family isn't quite so comfortable with stepping on campus yet or you want to have it a little bit more convenient. We have that virtual option is.
For.
Great and at the end of the presentation we will share information about committing to BGSU, whether that's through your housing, payment or signing up for orientation, so that is kind of a next step. If you are deciding that you want to be a BGSU Falcon, so this next question from Rachel I think I'll probably answer. Is there going to be a freshman wilderness experience trip this year? So currently BG issue is not sponsoring any study abroad, or even any domestic travel for its students, so we'll have to kind of look at that as we see how the pandemic.
David Johnston
01:24:00 PM
Here is the SOAR link: https://www.bgsu.edu/new-student/soar.html#schedule
Rachel Sprecher
01:24:01 PM
Is there going to be a freshman wilderness experience trip this year?
Unfolds, but do know we plan to have orientation in person. Do know that we're looking towards having some academic camps in the summer, in person, some opportunities to move in earlier, so we're definitely moving towards the more in person route again. So more to come on that Rachel. I also think this group might like to interact with our President tonight, so President Rogers at 4:00 PM will be hosting a virtual session if one of the moderators can drop that in the chat.
And he's going to talk about his hope for fall of 2021, talk about where he sees the campus going, which I know is an important consideration as you make your college decision BG issue has been open in person for fall semester and now spring semester we call this spring semester. Even though it's a little chilly. But we just want to keep be more and more and more open for that ultimate University experience. So Kelly, our next question and this is from Alexis.

How does rushing for sororities work?
How does rushing for sorority's work? So how does Greek recruitment work?

You can register for the President's session, which is today at 4:00 p.m. EST, here: https://admissions.bgsu.edu/register/president
Good question. So in those first 2 weeks of school you can fill out a recruitment form. Just saying that you're interested in Greek life, and basically they organize a lot of different opportunities for them to interview you for you to interview them. So that way you get to know which sorority or fraternity you might want to be a part of, and from there they place their bids and you place yours too. Basically to match you with the best bet for you, and so that's a great way to get in touch and then they do some formal events from there.

Do you feel like people in different majors interact with each other or do friend groups generally stay within your area of study?
Greg there there coming in which I absolutely love from Sarah. Do you feel like people in different majors interact with each other or do friend groups generally stay within your area of study? That's a really good question.
Yeah, that is a great question, so I would say that most people find their friend groups all over and it's good to have a few different friend groups that way. Maybe you're really great friends with the people on your floor, but maybe you need to get away for a little bit. That's fine, you can have other friends in a student organization or from your classes, so I would say BGSU is really well combined and it's kind of like a puzzle where you have people of all different backgrounds coming together where that, whether that's the background that they grew up in, or whether it's their major.
I'm it's a great place just to collaborate and grow together.

Are there any certain groups that are related to the honors college?
Love that, alright? So Ethan are there any certain clubs that are related to the Honors College? Yes, yes there are. So Kelly want elaborate on that.

01:26:31 PM
Great questions! Keep them coming. We have a few more minutes.
Yes, we do have an honors learning community. If you want to live around other people who have that same priority of academics, and so that's something you can do. They do a lot of events too, so some of those are just fun like movie night in our honors done. Other ones are like let's sit around and talk about this controversial topic just to learn about each other's perspective too. So they're very involved as an organization.

Here is more information with how to get involved with the Honors College: https://www.bgsu.edu/honors-college/current-students/student-involvement.html
An I think Kelly will agree that we find that students really have an eclectic mix of interest so no one student is doing exactly like another student at BGSU. They're involved in different majors, different clubs, and it's not unheard of. I mean, I was a journalism major, worked at the student newspaper, but then I also auditioned and was in a play. So I mean, you can explore other passions, even if they're not your major. So I know we had seen some intra layer from people interested in the Falcon Marching Band.
Certainly you don't have to be a music major to be in the Falcon Marching Band. You can be any major and the Falcon Marching Band, which I did drop that form. If you're interested in expressing interest. So the band director knows that is more of an extracurricular activity, less of a class. I know that in high school sometimes band marching Band is a class at BG issue. They block off a portion of your schedule to practice, but it's not a class, it's not something you're being graded for, and there's not really an audition.
David Johnston
01:28:07 PM
Any other questions? We'd love to answer them!
It's more I want to be involved so you get to be involved. I think the only audition is for the percussion line that tends to be a little more competitive and what super cool is our marching band has continued to practice and perform even during covid I would see him outside all the time on the lawn they had the mass with the little hole in the mouth so they could still play their instruments. I mean BG has been so innovative when it has come to still having those experiences during.
The pandemic and maybe Kelly. Can you talk a little bit about some of the student life that you've seen on campus still exists? Still thrive even though we have covette?
I also really love that photo on the slide right now because when the weather was a little warmer BGS you painted on the lawn circles so they were socially distant circle so students could interact and be outside together. Still have meetings still study together. We really have leaned into that idea that we're still going to make it work, and we're still going to have a lot of fun. Kelly, I'm so glad you mentioned some of those activities. 'cause one of them.

Will students need a covid test before they get to campus or proof of vaccination?
You may not think of this activity, but sometimes people get a job and sometimes that job really becomes also your activity and I'm kind of thinking of the Office of Admissions tour guides. Kale was a tour guide in her day, and so there's an opportunity to get involved and make money and so that also is an added perk. It looks like, oh, it. Looks like we do have a question here. It's from Alex. He's had some great questions. I think I'll be able to answer this one. Will students need a covid test before they get to campus or proof of vaccination?
No. So at this point BG issue and nearly every College in the United States is not requiring the covid vaccine, but I know BG issue has surveyed students to see who would be interested in getting that. When it does become available to that age group. And I will say that the vast majority of students have said if you provide it, if you have it, I will take it so big issue at this point, not requiring the COVID-19 vaccine, but we know students are interested in taking it.
Once it becomes available, and Speaking of COVID-19, I'm glad that Kelly mentioned or COVID-19 hotline. We also have our Chief Health Officer, Ben Batey, who is leading our pandemic efforts to make sure students are safe. Our students continue to live in the residence halls, continue to live in the dorms if they are exposed to covid or they are diagnosis. We do have housing that they can stay in. Why they isolate an they take their classes remotely for those 10 days and all of their food is delivered to them. So we have a lot of measures.

BGSU continues to be a place to be involved and interact with other students. Take a peak at the events that BGSU is hosting this Spring. https://events.bgsu.edu/
In place to make sure that students are still able to be at BG continue at BG, but also keep the whole student body safe and I've been really impressed. I don't know bout you Cali, just with students being so conscious about the wearing of the facial covering and when we moved back home for winter break and then came back we sent all of our students and at home covid tests and they took that test before they move back in. If they had a positive diagnosis they stayed at home and took their classes on line before they move back in.
Really, keeping the entire student body safe, so I I know that for me that has been incredibly heartwarming.
Yeah, definitely. I'm I'm just surprised for how big of a campus we are, how few cases we've had, and I think it's just the perfect mix of having those opportunities to get involved that are available but also very safe too. And our students do take it very seriously, but also have a lot of fun in the meantime.
Yeah, I agree in a lot of our classes 'cause we had in person classes, we just have used our ballroom or we've used large gymnasiums or presentation rooms and we've spread out so we actually have no.
Contact tracing of covid within the classroom experience because of that, so that's something to be proud of. Looks like Anita has a question. I don't know if you'll know this Cali. We might have to do a little research Armada raters interested in the dance team. How do I join?
Yeah, I know that if you got in touch with your admissions counselor, we can definitely find that information for you. Have a good contact to just ask more information. I know that they do audition, so we can definitely put you in touch and make sure you get signed up for auditions.

I'm interested in the dance team. How do I join?
Yeah, but it is an audition process so we'll have to find that information for you. I know my moderators are kind of looking for right now, so we might be able to drop that into the chat, but also I think all of us can agree you've received a lot of emails from BG. You can reply back to any of those and say how do I join the dance team and we will 100% make sure that you get that information. It looks like Shonda does have that dance. Team information is going to drop it in the chat, so excellent work Shonda. We have all these like worker bees behind the scenes answering questions so.

This has been fantastic. We're starting to wind down. Do we have anything else that we can answer today this afternoon? Please know that this is just the beginning. We have virtual sessions the rest of today, including that a session with our president doesn't. In Rogers, we're going to still be on line on Sunday and on Monday, offering a whole variety of opportunities to connect. Whether it's on financial aid, whether it's on housing, whether it's trying to determine the perfect fit for your major, and also I'll have one of the moderators drop this in the chat. We.

Are open for in person tours. We are doing them in a way in which we don't combine too many families with the tour guide, so we're trying to keep him about 10 and under so we have limited spots, but we have been open for tours since July 15th. We actually still have a few spots open for Sunday and Monday, so like if you're not too busy, we're not that busy. During the pandemic, right drive to BG or you're not afraid of the cold? We're here for you. In fact, today we're giving away coffee. I don't know if we have coffee.

My parents and I did a socially distanced tour and it was great!
Left by tomorrow, but we're kind of still rolling out this Presidents Day celebration for you. So thank you so much for being here today. I'm going to check one more time for you, Kelly. See if there's questions. They're all just saying thanks, oh Alex Alex, we love you. Your questions and your compliments. He said my parents and I did a socially distance tour and it was great. Thank you so much. We take a lot of pride in our campus tours. Who this is a good one. Abby. I don't think there is but will look.
Abby wonders, is there a complete list of groups anywhere that we can see? So I'll have my moderators kind of look on the office of Campus Activities website. I think a lot of them are listed there, but keep in mind, as Kelly mentioned, when you get here in the fall, we have events. We have emails like you are bombarded with information about how to get involved. In the end it will be about quality not quantity. 'cause you will hear about that. Many opportunities to do something, a BG, nothing you have to worry about signing up for now unless you're auditioning for something like the dance team.
