Now it's my fault I didn't realize that Safari was not.
I don't know if I knew that either welcome, hello, good afternoon. Welcome to BGSU virtual presidents day. We're going to give it a few seconds for students to make sure they're getting into this session. My name is Brandy bar height. I'm the director of enrollment communication here at BGSU. I am on campus. We are doing in person tours. It is part of our virtual Presidents Day Blitz which is a little bit virtual or a lot of it virtual and a little bit in person. And I'm here with Christine.
And Christine's going to give a formal introduction, but she is with the Pathway program and she is going to be leading us through a Q&A because she is an advisor and she's going to be your person. I'm going to pop off camera. I'm going to be moderating in the background. If you have any questions, my other moderators are going to introduce themselves right now. We're going to save some of those questions to come back on camera. Maybe in 20 or so minutes, and do a live Q&A with Christine. But Christine, I want you to introduce yourself full name.
Maybe your hometown 'cause we had a lot of Ohioans here with us, and since it is a Netflix fleet themed weekend, we have been sharing a lot what we're currently streaming, so I don't know if you have a favorite show, but I turn it over to our guest of Honor, Christine. Welcome to everyone else in the.

Hey Chris, it's Brandy I'm interrupting and this is very strange. But when we're together, it sounds your sound sound so much better. When I signed off, you are definitely very garbled, so I'm just going to ask the audience how were they hearing you? So if you could just kind of tell us how the sound was for Christine, we might have to make an adjustment just so you can hear her better. So just kind of dreading the channel like I hear Christine fan or I don't hear are there saying it was very muffled. They couldn't hear very garbled.
So Christine talk right now with me on air with you. Let me hear how it sounds. 'cause it sounds a little better now.
OK, um testing testing this is.

How's that? How's that everyone with me on air with Christine? I don't know why they would yet. Now it's normal something about my presence is left in your sound so I know when campus together. I don't know if you're like picking up on like my positive Presidents Day vibes. I'm gonna stay on air in order to keep the sound up audible, but I will try just to blend a little bit into the background. OK, so I'm going to go on mute or turn it back over to Christine, who now?
Can hear a little bit better.

Yep OK alright good well again. Hello, I'm Christine and I am the pathway advisor and I'm originally from a small town called Gibsonburg which is near Fremont, OH, but I know I reside in the Philly area.
And as I was saying what I am streaming right now on Netflix is called The Midwife, and I can't think of the other show Arrow. That's the other one arrow. So you've got to have a little bit of action in our evening views of our TV watching so, so today I'm here to really just talk about what kind of classes will be taken with pathway. And you know what other requirements that you would have with regards to looking at?
Completing the Pathway program in the first year. So I'm going to go ahead and get started with showing you what your fall classes are going to look like.
Alright, so hopefully you can see that.
Um, the pathway courses that you'll be taken in the fall semester include a univie 1000. That's a University success course because it's all about transitioning from high school to college, so we talk about study skills and reading skills in that class, as well as looking at different majors that you might be thinking of or confirming the major that you're looking at is, as you know, a pathway student is required to declare undecided as their major. But as your advisor, my goal is to make sure that.
Callie Inkrott
11:05:02 AM
Courses that you are taking are meeting your interest for your major that you would like to go into in your sophomore year. So in that University success class will talk about those majors. That's also a time for you to come.
Gaby Whisler
11:05:34 AM
Hi, I'm Gaby Whisler, Arlington Heights,Illinois,One Tree Hill
You might be instructor and your advisor and other students in the class over the one thing about these classes. They're very small. There's only 25 to 30 students in them, so you'll see that the biology, the history, the sociology, the English words are very general courses at anyone on campus can take, but students in the Pathway program have the smaller class size and they also have the unique connection with their pathway faculty. As I said, you'll have your univie instructor, but in the biology history.
Sociology in English and even the Ace and 1000 course. All of those individuals who teach those classes only teach for the pathway program, so you really make that connection with them. You know that one on one opportunity to meet with them in the classroom outside of the classroom. Many of them offer tutoring sessions for our students, so you can actually received hearing directly from your faculty or your instructor objectclass itself, and you'll see on the list for the fall semester.
The biology says biology or math, depending on what your major is going to be, so it's important for me to know what your future major is going to be so that I can determine if mass is what you need to take your first semester or biology's first thing that you need to take in that first semester and then with the history or sociology, what's going to be one or the other. You won't have both of them. And then of course you'll have the literature and culture is another option. On top of that, we also look at taking the first writing course.
Callie Inkrott
11:06:53 AM
All students at BGSU have to graduate with writing 11:20 and sometimes you have to take 1110 before you can take 1120. And we look at your AC T score as a way to determine if you need 1110 or you can jump right into 1120.
Key point right here. You do not need to take the placement exam. So as you start going through the process of the admission process of the next steps, one of the things you'll hear is take your placement exam. Take your placement exam.
Pathway students are not required to take the placement exam, so you do not have to worry about taking the writing placement exam.
And then depending again on your future degree path will look at the college algebra or the into the stats as a math that you would take either fall semester or in the spring.
So go ahead and move to the spring semester so you can see that.
Sean Brady
11:08:10 AM
Favo.rite class now is my CPP class, Principles of Selling
So in spring semester we continue with the UNIB class. Although we start talking about career life planning an transition transition out of pathway to your main campus major, so will have the colleges come in or the advisors from the different programs come in and talk about the different majors and their requirements for those majors. Which ones have additional admission requirements at GPA requirements? Has specific courses that you need to look at taking?
So we start bringing that information and then we have you connect with them as well so that come next fall when you meet with an advisor you already know who that person is and can you know make that connection with them that much easier, much smoother. And again, if you took the biology in the fault, then we're going to look at you taking the math in the spring and then we do offer a women studies course or an ethnic studies course in the spring as well. Women studies is all about women study, so we look at women in literature, women in history.
Jacob Wylie
11:08:58 AM
What should I do for writing if I opted out of submitting the ACT score.
And then the ethnic studies course is an intro to ethics study, so you'll look at different cultural movements, civil rights, movement, Black Lives Matters, movement, and topics such as that that deal with different cultural aspects throughout.
The United States and then of course, in the spring. That's when we also want you to start preparing for.
Callie Inkrott
11:09:25 AM
@Jacob You still will not need to take the writing placement. We have every Pathway student in the same writing course, so you'll be all set!
Your transition by having you take one or two of your courses in your major so you'll have an opportunity to take the introduction courses. So if you're in interested in social work, we'll make sure to have you in the social work class or education you'll be taking your education classes starting in the spring semester, so we start to really help develop that plan for you to transition out of pathway and keep in mind to transition out of pathway, you need to make sure that you have a 2.0 overall GPA.
Callie Inkrott
11:09:58 AM
By the end of spring semester, so the full year, fall and spring and also complete 24 credit hours and my goal is to make sure that you have on those requirements met so I do watch carefully the courses that you select and how many hours you are completing and then in the spring if you took the writing 11:10 then in the spring you'll take. I'm sorry if in the following you took writing 11:10 in the spring will have you take writing. 11:20 and then of course the math.
Will depend again on your future career path. Some students need to college algebra, some need the statistics.
Dasia Love
11:10:42 AM
If we have english credits from CCP does that count for the english credit at BGSU?
So when I also wanted to let you know about advising expectations, one of the things that you will do is we really become good friends because I am, as Brandy said your person. So we will meet one on one at least five times in the semester. But I do have an open door policy student stop by all the time. In fact today and make sure to say it was in a zoom meeting so no one would actually knock on my door, but sometimes they don't read that and knock anyways so.
Will work with that if that happens, but we will be discussing your academic major annual program requirements during those one on one time that you and I are meeting. Will also be talking about your transition, how things are going. I've had students come in and talk about personal things such as roommates and you know, things that are happening at home. It is completely up to you what you would like to share, but I do tell students that.
Callie Inkrott
11:11:26 AM
@Dasia potentially! You can check here, or if your school isn't listed, you can check transferology.com. https://www.bgsu.edu/admissions/apply-now/transfer-students/transfer-of-credits/General-Education-Transfer-Equivalency-Guides.html
You know, I'm here for you, but I won't know if you need me unless you tell me, um, so make sure that you do meet with me and you know, share some some things about what's happening in your life. So if I can be of any service, I definitely will be.
Alex Marta
11:11:45 AM
what ACT score do you need for writing?
If you are having academic difficulties, that's definitely why we need to meet and make sure that we can get you tutoring. Get you connect with your faculty, get you connected with learning comments if we need too. So there are all these academic support and resources available. Some students will go. I didn't even know we had that on campus and that's what I'm here for, is to make sure to share those resources with you. I'm all about making sure that you succeed in that first year and succeed beyond the first year. I want to see you all graduate.
And graduate on time. So my goal is to make sure that we meet at least 101 five times a semester to ensure that we can get you to graduation.
Callie Inkrott
11:12:34 AM
@Alex We do not require the ACT writing portion at BGSU. It can be beneficial for education majors to take it, but otherwise we do not require it.
And I said stated I have an open door policy. You can email me. You can call me. I have students email me throughout the entire weekend and I will respond to them. And I'm a night owl. So you know, it might be 1130 midnight and you send me a message and like I will just answer me in the morning. Don't be surprised if I answer you that night because I'm a night owl.
And you know, if I can help you then and I'll definitely make sure to respond to to the email.
OK, and tips for success. OK my number one thing to all my students is go to class, take ownership or responsibility for your education. That is the best way to be successful in all of your courses at BG issue. Go to class be it on campus, be it on. Zoom through a remote learning. I should mention that our courses with the Pathway program are in the hybrid model so you will have both in class time.
An remote time as well. So if you if your classmates Monday, Wednesday and Friday you'll be in class at least twice a week and then one day a week you'll have a zoom connection with your entire class. And of course you know we're crossing our fingers that we can have even more class time in the fall so that we can actually have you know all three days in the classroom. Again, keep in mind that our classes are only 25 to 30 students. They are taught in a cohort. So that means that.
25 and 30 of you are taking the same classes together, so you really get to connect with pathway students and have an opportunity to build friendships there as well.
Another key component to making sure you have a successful semester and assess successful academic year is to make sure you rent or purchase your books before the semester begins. Waiting to the second or third week of the semester. Not a good idea. Let's make sure we, um, if you have any textbooks that you need for your classes that you get those ahead of time and utilized the book comparison that the University provides so you can see where.
The best book price is you also always want to stay in contact with me. Let me know what's going on.
In fact, today had a student who went home for the weekend and he is trying to get back on campus because of the weather. He emailed me right this morning and said I'm trying so we made sure to let all of his instructors know that he might be a little late trying to get to class because of the fact of the weather and trying to get back to campus. So I, you know, I will do that for you. I can just send quick messages out to our advisors to let them know what's happening with you, or if you know you want to come in and say I'm changing my major Christine, how do I do that? We'll talk about that as well.
But just stay in contact with me because I definitely can serve as a resource for all of you in many different ways. And then throughout the semester throughout the year, I should say.
Plan is to have pathway workshops such as a stress management workshop. We had a hot cocoa bar a year ago, didn't have it this fall semester because of covid, but a year ago we did have a hot cocoa bar and we planted a game night and you know, so we do some fun activities as well so you get to know other pathway students besides the 25 or 30 there in your cohort because it's important for you to kind of spread your.
Yourself out there and meet other people and we try to help you do that through the pathway program and meeting other pathway students. We also will have study tables and work with students on you know making sure that they have the study techniques that they need so will work with the learning comments on the study tables and you know any other event that I happen to just come up without them. The year I'll just kind of throw in there and let everybody know about so. But that's you know our goal is to make sure that you.
Have that connection beyond just the academic classroom.
And then of course, you want to make sure that you're utilizing all the academic support and resources at both on campus and through the Pathway program. As I stated, your faculty are available to you for one on one time. In fact, our math instructor he actually has on Fridays he has his office open for tutoring for walk-in tutoring. So if you have any questions about any of your math courses, regardless if you're in his class or being taught by another pathway instructor he.
Brandi Barhite
11:17:04 AM
Getting ready for live Q&A. Drop your questions for Christine!
He opens it up for anyone who is in the Pathway program and then of course our writing instructors are here to help with writing as well so that you have an opportunity to to work with them one on one, which is a unique component to pathway. Because you don't always get that from all of your classes.
And that is my contact information there. So if you had any questions.
So I'll try and answer as many can't as I can today, but if there's something specific that we need to talk about, this is how you can reach me. This is my Direct Line and my email, and if you notice on this slide here, I actually have an arrow pointing down to our building 'cause the picture shows our building and that is in central Hall and so you see the library. That's the moment the mosaic looking decoration on the building itself. But to the left as AB, right behind that tree is the building.
Um, which is central Hall. I just wanted to make sure you had a little picture where we are on campus and last but not least, I just want to say welcome to pathway and go Falcons. So I'm going to go ahead and flip it back to the screen with my information.
Wow, Christine, I don't know if that photo represents BGSU right now because we have a lot of snow, but I hope to see those Flowers soon. Speaking of where your building is located, caliz or moderate or I know she said Hello Kelly, if maybe you can drop in the chat and opportunity for students to sign up for an import person campus tour, that might be something that you're interested in doing in February, March or April, just to kind of your feet on the ground.
Callie Inkrott
11:18:53 AM
You can schedule your visit to BGSU here: https://admissions.bgsu.edu/portal/campus_visit
As you make a decision about going to BGSU or if it solidifies that you already are intending to come, but we know that visiting campus is really crucial, so please take a look at that calendar. See if you can fit in a visit to campus. Know that we're doing Covid safe tours. We're not having you know more than 10 people on one tour at a time, facial coverings and other precautions are put into place as well, so we don't have the thousands of people that we usually have on campus. We're just bringing people and slowly throughout the year.
But it's a nice time to connect with us. So Christine, I think one thing I really want to go back to. And this was kind of happening right when your sound was a little iffy at the beginning, but then it was the rest of the time for those who are joining us and maybe didn't attend a session earlier this weekend about what is pathway. Can you just set the table for what is the pathway program? And you know what that means for them and their BG issue experience? I know you provided all the advising in the class, help.
But kind of take a few students need help about beginning and why they're in pathway with you.

If we want to be apart of a learning community freshman year can we do that and be apart of the pathway program?
Alright, well the Pathway program is a conditional admission program. It is a one year commitment where students are required to earn at least a 2.0 GPA and 24 credit hours by their first academic year their freshman year. So we make sure that with the Pathway program that the courses that you were taking our meeting those requirements.

Do the five CPP classes I took all transfer to BG?
And within the pathway program. And it's a unique program and that the Pathway program is not open to all students. You are invited by the admissions office to be part of this program and our class sizes are much smaller in scale than that of the universities courses. So your sociology course will only have 25 to 30 students in that, and you have that one on one time with the faculty who solely teach for our program and.
Do you get to have me as your advisor?
Callie Inkrott
11:21:00 AM
@Sean potentially! You can check here, or if your school isn't listed, you can check transferology.com. ~~~ https://www.bgsu.edu/admissions/apply-now/transfer-students/transfer-of-credits/General-Education-Transfer-Equivalency-Guides.html
Dane Buffardi
11:21:13 AM
Hi...Do Pathway Program students have the same availability to housing choices? Or, are there different levels to priorities given?
Oh yeah, we have one on one. Opportunities for students to meet with both faculty and with me as their advisor. And I'm like your your one stop shop. So if you had any questions about your financial aid, about your bugs, about your classes, where to go for tutoring, I would be that person that you can contact and connect with so that we can make sure that you are getting your needs met throughout the campus so.
Now that's a great explanation, and you know students who are in the Pathway program are BGSU students just like anyone else. One of the questions that came up is as a pathway student. Well, I still have the same housing choices and the answer is yes. You BG issue just like anyone else, you will get a random time slot to pick your housing the first week of June and you will go in and pick Centennial or Crusher or McDonald. Those are the names of our residence halls. So Christine, have you found that?
Students have been able to acclimate into campus life pretty easily in addition to their pathway responsibilities.
Sean Brady
11:22:23 AM
Is Falcon Heights only for upper class?
Absolutely, students live all across campus in their chosen residence Hall and are able to get involved on campus and are able to go to all of the different opportunities at University offers for activities, both at you know if you wanted to go to the football game, all you need is your student ID to do that. Annual. Have the student ID. You are a BGSU student who is on the main campus experiencing everything any other student on campus is experiencing.
Callie Inkrott
11:22:42 AM
@Sean yes, Falcon Heights is just for upperclassmen
Dane Buffardi
11:22:53 AM
Will I be able to partake in school athletic programs and teams while in the pathway program?
The only unique component that you have is that you have smaller classes and you have someone who you can go directly to for any questions that you might have and then you have faculty available for you to be able to utilize as tutors, so those unique components for to your BGSU experience. I can tell you right now, many if you're rooming with someone who's not in pathway, they'll be asking how they can get into pathway because they want those same unique opportunities.
But yeah, you are a full fledged BG issue student an are able to experience everything that BG issue has to offer.
Yeah, and there was a question about athletics and extracurricular activities. I mean, as a pathway student Christine, they can be part of club sports or Inter murals, or I mean really, I mean Greek life. I mean anything that they want to do right?
Callie Inkrott
11:23:27 AM
@Dane You would not be able to play division 1, but you can still compete on our club teams or intramural teams!
Sean Brady
11:23:37 AM
okay thanks
Yeah, I currently have two students who are on the rugby club team and so they are part of the rugby team and two are actually bowlers who are bowling for our Bowling Club and several who are part of the Greek Greek life and some who are working on campus 'cause you can do that as well work on campus with within the Pathway program. So definitely opportunities all around for all of our students in the program.
Yeah, The only exception would be as you wouldn't be able to participate in any of the Division One athletic team, but you would know if you're being recruited to be useful Baltimore Hockey team. So most of us I'm 5 foot 10. I'm not a recruitable athlete, so most of us are falling into that club sport Intermural realm. So that was a really great question. There's a lot of questions coming in and one of them is how many students are in the BG issue Pathway program?
Gaby Whisler
11:24:14 AM
How many students are in the pathway program?
So currently this year we had about 200 students that were part of the program and we anticipate to have at least 300 students. Part of the program coming fall of 2021.
Yeah, and I would echo when you said that students will sometimes say. How can I get into the pathway program? Will people call the Office of Admissions and asked to be invited to it as well? But it is, it is by review of your application so we have to extend that invitation. So congratulations to those of you who are with us today. This is a great question from Gabby. Can you also be a member of the Pathway Program and the Fly program? And maybe.
Gaby Whisler
11:24:57 AM
Can you also be a member of the FLY program if you are in Pathway?
Um, can you give a definition of what the fly program is? 'cause many students, probably who are listening in, won't know that term.
Dane Buffardi
11:25:11 AM
sounds good!
So yes, and you definitely can be apart of both of the programs the Fly program is offered through our Learning Commons program, and it does give you an opportunity to have even that more hands on one on one experience with an advisor in their program.
I is the first year leadership. I don't even know what the acronym is for. Do you Brandy?
Meg Zgonc
11:26:21 AM
Are there any special classes only pathway students have to take?
So you could actually stands for anything. Well, I think the flight program what it is, is an opportunity for students who might need some special coaching or tutoring through the learning comments, because maybe they have a learning difference or an attached attention disorder. So I believe that they would be able to participate in both and we can connect you to the fly program. Kali, who's a moderate are right now. She'll take down your information. We can have an admissions counselor Anna fly program.
Coordinator, reach out to start putting those services together for you, but I think that that is very doable. So this question is coming from Meg. Are there any special classes only pathway students have to take so I don't know if you want to flip back to your slide? If you can, that would help you know, give a little frame of reference for Meg's answer.
right and just a little bit about the flight program. What's really unique about that program as well is that pathway we're here for you that first year, and then you transition to your main campus. Major fly program will be here throughout your four years, so you could actually continue working with the flight program even beyond just that first year with pathway and fly.
Really good point, I'm glad that you said that. 'cause that follows you for your whole college career.

11:26:50 AM
We recently submitted updated Transcript for review to reevaluate Pathway determinartion. When would we expext reaults of reevaluation?
David Younger
11:26:54 AM
Is it true that Pathway must live on campus?
Right, right? OK? So the unique courses that you take with the Pathway program are simply that you and I be 1000. The ace of 1000. Those are the first 2 courses in the fall semester. Again the universities except success. Course is all about transitioning from high school to college, getting you connected with understanding, study skills, writing skills and.
Looking at different majors that you might be eligible or might be interested in looking at doing, and then the college reading and learning skills is all about, you know.
Callie Inkrott
11:27:44 AM
@David yes, all students (Pathway or not) need to live on campus for their first 2 ears unless they live within 50 miles of BGSU. You can reach out to your admissions counselor to ask about admission re-consideration! https://www.bgsu.edu/admissions/contact-us/find-your-counselor.html
How do I take a chapter in my sociology course and make it into a study guide so that I'm ready for my exam so you learn different techniques to be able to look at that chapter in sociology course and figure out how you how you can study for that or biology. It's a science. How do I study for science class? That's what you learn in the Ace in 1000 cores. And then if we flip over to the spring semester again, we're continuing with the univie course and doing the career life planning. Transitioning from pathway to your major so.
Those three courses are specific to the Pathway program.
Sean Brady
11:27:57 AM
So I would have to wait until Soph0more year to join rugby team?
Callie Inkrott
11:28:16 AM
@Sean Nope! You can try out for the rugby team since it's a club sport.
But I should mention that all your courses that you are taking both fall and spring will meet requirements for graduation. The univie classes in the ACEN 1000 cores all count towards your total hours that you need for graduation. So even though they may be unique for pathway, they're still going to count for your entire graduation requirement. So everything that you're looking at in the fall and spring with pathway will meet the requirement for graduation.
And also in some cases will meet requirements for your major.
Sean Brady
11:28:56 AM
okay thanks
Yeah, and I was a student along time ago and I took in shorter women studies an intro to ethnic studies. So a lot of these classes are universal among BGSU students schedules, so this is a really good question because I did I name drop this. I mentioned the learning comments. Can you explain more about the learning Commons and the tutoring and the resources that they offer? Not just the pathways to the students?
Gaby Whisler
11:28:59 AM
Can you explain more on the learning commons?
Sure, so the learning time is does offer opportunities for students to have tutoring in their writing math an in what we call the study skills area, or the.
Brandi Barhite
11:29:32 AM
Dasia - I will have Christine answer your question next
With what I'm looking for subject area, so the unique component to the learning cuter than unique thing about the learning Commons is that you do have that tutoring available to you for pretty much any class at anytime throughout your four years at BG, so you know if you're taking a sociology course this semester and then you're taking a physics, your software, your junior year, you will be able to utilize the tutoring that's available to you through the learning Commons. It is usually the tutoring is usually set up.
In groups of three students who are all taking the same section of the class and your tutor will be a student who either is the major. So if it's a physics course, then you're looking at a physics major both at the undergraduate or graduate level, or someone who took to say the course that you are looking to get the tutoring in. OK, so that's what they do for that for the subject area for math is going to be based on your math.
Course that you are in. If it's a college algebra or into the stats, or if it's a precalculus course, you would have a tutor available for you to work with, and again in the small groups of two or three students working directly with one tutor and the writing skills of component does the same thing. One tutor to two or three students. The thing about the writing tutor they do not proofread your.
Actual essays, they are there to help you build on the ideas and concepts that the instructor is looking for in the class, but they are not proofreaders so you couldn't drop your paper often. Have somebody proofread it for you. OK, so that's that's what the learning Commons does. An the difference between that with pathway. The pathway tutors are your instructors. They're the ones teaching the course and have the subject area or another set of data or topic they talked about in class, so that if you're having a question about that specific topic.
They know what they reviewed in the class so that you're able to really make that connection with them.
Yeah, what's really nice too about our tutoring at BGSU. Through the learning commas is it's free as part of your tuition, so you're not having to pay a tutor an hourly wage or pay anything beyond what you paid to come to BG issues. So, great question. I think it's deja I believe, and Asia wonders. How do you get chosen to be part of the Pathway program? So if you could just review that again and if you rather have me take back some in the Office of Admissions, I could answer that question.
I would rather you take that if you could.

How do you get chosen to be apart of the pathway program?
Yeah, I'll take that. Yeah, I work in the Office of Admissions when students apply to BGSU, we look at their application. We look at their AC TRS 80. If they were able to submit that an we look at their high school GPA and we make decisions based on college readiness and so if we think that you can automatically be admitted to BG issue and jump right into your major will make that decision. Or we might offer you the pathway invitation just for those smaller classes. A little bit of extra help.
So really, it's based on that high school GPA in that AC T or SAT score. If it might be like a smidge below our minimum recommendation so, but I know that sometimes students.
The struggle a little bit with test taking or maybe time management. And so I 'cause I saw some of you in the chat were saying you know I'm taking the CCP course. I have college credit so pathway also will help with some of those soft skills to make you prepared to continue to Excel in college. And maybe Christine. You could address that. I mean you know working with you individually, you're going to make sure that the student is kind of understanding how to manage their time and when to set aside time to study.
Or for extra curricular activities. And that's not something you always get at the high school level, so a lot of students need that at the college level. So how do you? I know? Sometimes people will also call you like their mom, so I hope you give him those you know a little extra nudges and tips.
So, and that's very true. I mean, when you get to college when you look at their high school experience, usually it's a set amount of time. It's a black schedule of time, and when you get to college, I mean, you might have a class at.

last call for questions
8:30 in the morning, but your next class isn't till 10:30. So what do you do in those two hours time? How do you manage your time? And so we do look at how to work a planner an in the univie class. We actually will have you pull out your planners and figure out exactly when things are due to add them into your schedule and then talk about.
What blocks of time that you should block off for study time? But also because we're all about making sure the balance both class and your extracurricular activities that we also include your extracurricular activities as part of that plan. When we create your weeks agenda so that you have an idea of how to manage all of it and put it together.

What if my HS GPA has increased since 2 months ago? Do I re-submit that to the college when it's time?
You know, I will definitely be that then Mom voice. If I have to to make sure we keep on top of things and make sure that you succeed in an obtaining the requirements for the Pathway program and beyond. Because there are some programs that do require more than a 2.0. So an I being your advisor will know what programs will require more than the 2.0 and so if you don't if you don't come and meet with me, you won't know that information. So it's important that we always meet.

@Sean you can have your high school counselor re-send your transcript, and you can connect with your admissions counselor to be re-evaluated. https://www.bgsu.edu/admissions/contact-us/find-your-counselor.html
Well, it's so interesting. You mentioned that Christine, because with the pandemic there's been some students, maybe even some on line with us today who haven't been in an in person setting since March of 2020. And they'll need help being re acclimated to academics and being in class again because BG is really working towards having primarily face to face classes in fall of 2021. In fact, they might have kale share in the chat.
There's an opportunity tonight for students and families to connect with our President, BG issue President Rodney Rogers and he's going to talk about his commitment to serving students and families because at BG, we really believe that you know the family is part of the success of the student, and so we want to serve the families when they have questions. Or they might have a concern about their student. Or if there's something that we can do to enhance the experience. So that would be something that you might like to participate in later today. It's actually our very last.

When does the pathway program start? Like when do we start college ?
Virtual Presidents Day event, which we have been doing all weekend. So please come to that to hear about the presidential commitment to students and family an your success. It goes beyond Christine, which is reassuring, I think because you won't always be in the pathway program and you're going to need support for those second, 3rd and 4th year on campus. So I want to say Christine, there were iffy. I put a last call out for questions. I don't think we're getting anymore. Alex Marta had a few questions about writing.
Callie Inkrott
11:37:30 AM
@Kenzie you will start along with everyone else in August.
Alex Marta
11:37:55 AM
thanks!
I'm gonna if you could flip back to your slide. I think Alex would be better served if he emailed you and yet a direct conversation about the writing, placement test and AC T and how to kind of proceed with that. Remember that you know we're trying to cover a lot of information in this web and R, But there's a lot of individual situations and questions that are really better for like a phone call or a zoom meeting. And Christine is available to you even as an incoming student, which is super nice, like you don't have to wait.
Until you're officially committed to BGSU, or you moved in, you can start talking to her now to get that comfort level that you need to commit to. BG and you know and be here in the fall and Speaking of committing, I would be remiss if I didn't try to plug committing to BGSU so Cali might drop our website into the chat words. The opportunity to make your housing payment which Christina talked about or signing up for orientation which is opportunity to come to campus in the summer to kind of.
On board and get you ready for the fall. So that's kind of raising your hand saying yes, I want to come to BG you don't have to do that today. People just started doing it on February 1st. Christine had the future Falcon actually at home. I think she might have committed a good first or second, would I thank you for that. But really should probably start to think about making the decision by May 1st of your senior year. So May 1st of 2021 so you still have some time. Hopefully you're using Presidents Day to gain some more ingredients and tools you know to.

So Callie is not my advisor?
Make an educated decision oshan you thought Kelly was your invite, Allie would be an amazing advisor. Kelly is your admissions counselor and unfortunately you will have to leave her once you are at BGSU and working with Christine, so because you could visit Cali for sure. So that's cute. So thank you everyone so it looks like we're getting a few more.

@Sean I'm so glad we are working together for now though!!
Um, when does the pathway program start? That's a great question.
It just works when you with BG starts right.
Yeah, we start at the same time. There's no pretend that you would need to start or need to come to campus. We all start at the same time and I did want to mention in case our parents out there listening another unique component to the Pathway program is that parents can also connect with me and that is not just, you know, right now that is throughout the entire academic year. So if you had any questions or concerns now or later, you are always welcome to contact me as well.

11:40:29 AM
Yep! That's the date!
The great offer, thanks for that Christine. Well, with that I think we are going to wrap up. I want to remind you that today it when does BGSU school year start? Ryan, I'll answer that really quickly. So fall 2021 will Kelly correct me if I'm wrong. Is it Thursday, August 26th? It's like in the middle of the week. It's the end of August and as we get closer to moving in and starting classes start to receive all of those emails and notifications in Mail pieces. But it's the end of August, hopefully Cali.

Keep hanging out with us today! https://www.bgsu.edu/admissions/presidents-day.html
Will confirm that date for you, but it's smack dab in the middle of the week right before Labor Day. So remember that this is part of a larger series today, so if you're interested in attending anything else, Cali is gonna put in our Presidents Day link. I saw a lot of questions about housing. We do have one more housing session later today that might be great for you to kind of look at our housing stock. Find out how to get roommates kind of understand that process, and really encourage you to meet with the President tonight who can talk about what fall 2021 is going to look like.
And give students and families some reassurance. So thank you everyone. I'm going to sign off when I sign off. Christine, I don't know if that affects your sound so you better say your goodbye right now.
OK, I will alright. It's good to talk to all of you and again please feel free to email or call if you have any questions.
