OK, any questions? Please drop him in the chat. I'll be monitoring those. My colleague colleague will be monitoring blows.
And we will get you guys an answer as quickly as possible. But if we feel like it's a question that should be, you know, answered in front of everyone and not just through the chat feature, I will have Drew answered those at the very end. So again thank you guys so much for being part of this historical event. Presidents that we can completely virtual and without further ado I will pass it off to Drew.
Well, thank you so much. Key on my key and said my name is Drew's mom, the regional missions counselor here in our office admissions. I'm regionally based in Chicago, IL. Working with a lot of our students, coming from our out of state populations, but I'm very, very well connected with BGSU. Even though I'm living in Chicago, I'm a two time proud graduate with my undergraduate in business and my graduate degree in education from BGSU. So I'm so excited to have everybody here today now. One thing that I do want to do in terms of some house cleaning is all of you. They are here today because you are.

Looking to take those next steps you're looking to start that application whether maybe you've recently submitted or you're still working on getting that application submitted. I did see prior to the event that some of you or students at registered had already been applied in admitted to BGSU. I do want to note that this presentation will answer maybe a few questions if you ask him in the chat, but this is primarily focused for students have have not even started the application process or recently have applied to BGSU. I was talking to key on before. If you can go ahead and drop the link in the chat.

Here is the link to the Next Steps after this presentation! https://admissions.bgsu.edu/register/?id=e53e2d2d-0965-41d8-af8c-7a4ccde9e380
Um, there is a presentation that will be happening in about an hour or so that will cover those next steps. So if you're a student in this in this web and R right now that has already been admitted to BGSU, I would really encourage you to go ahead and sign up for that event and attend that webinar next. Because that's going to kind of help you identify what you need to do now that you've been admitted. So now that we've gotten that that kind of housekeeping out away isaki on in the chat, go ahead and introduce themselves. So if you want to go ahead and drop your name, your hometown, maybe your high school. If your if your hometown as multiple high schools.
Maybe a dream job or something fun. You know, maybe a TV show or something like you do, maybe as a hobby, or maybe some that you're that you're interested in joining, like a student organization here at BGSU. So as you're completing, that will go over. Kind of a quick timeline. And what this presentation will do is we're going to go into exploring BGSU. Why Bowling Green State University? Why should you take that next step and apply to BGSU? And what are we doing here on campus and what are some of our offerings here at BGSU that we can make sure that we give you that Elephant University experience?
We're going to talk about the application process in the acceptance phase. When will you receive that decision? How can you receive that decision? What steps do you need to do to make sure that you apply and complete that application here at BGSU weighing your decisions in financial aid? We're going to talk about that financially process. Once you get that application submitted to BGSU, we're going to talk about how you can kind of at that same time. Work on getting that fast out? Getting that financial aid information back from BGSU. We're going to talk about committing to BGSU so a little bit further in advance once we get you accepted at BGSU, start working on those financials.
Madison Schroer
03:04:27 PM
Hey, I am Madison and I am from Wooster, Ohio I want to be a 4-9 Math and Social Studies teacher and a fun fact is that I help spark the idea for a Girls Golf team at my high school!
If you're ready to make that commitment to Bowling Green State University, we're going to touch on that. And then we're going to talk about your BGSU team. We have a whole host of individuals on our campus off campus working remotely wherever they are. They're really working for you, so we're going to talk about how you can stay connected with your BGSU team here at BGSU. As you're going through the application process, working through those next steps and hopefully making a Falcon in the fall. So, like I said to get started, we're going to learn a little bit more about Bowling Green State University.
Never been to our campus. BGSU has about 20,000 total students. That's about 16,000 undergraduate students. The rest are in our graduate college as well as our our satellite campus over in Huron, OH. Firelands campus. Now we are the largest we've ever been in the past 10 years, so enrollment is strong even during the pandemic in our retention rate is the highest it's ever been in University history. When you talk about our size, we're bout that medium sized public University. But we're still having the diversity that you're looking for in a large public institution.
20% of our incoming class is racially or ethnically diverse. Students are coming from all 50 states here in the United States as well as 70 plus countries across the globe. And so at Bowling Green State University is going to offer is going to give you that great kind of large University experience, but our average classroom size is 24 students in our student. Faculty ratio is 9 to one, and so we're really providing the best of both worlds. The best of a big University. But inside the classroom were ranked #3 in the country for teaching quality. So you're going to get to know your professor. You're going to build those relationships.
Keyon Camden
03:05:46 PM
Hi Madison, coming to BGSU for teaching will not steer you wrong! We are ranked 3rd in the country for our college of education and the curriculum ! You influenced a whole team to begin? That is amazing!
Inside and outside the classroom where they're not only going to help you with instruction, but they might help you with career exploration and help you with that direction. Whether it's getting a job after graduation or getting into a Graduate School of your choice, student life is huge. One of the biggest reasons why I chose BGSU was the student life. We have Division One athletics me playing sports in high school. I was a huge huge sports fan so it's really cool that I could come to University had the highest level of NCAA athletics on our campus and also all your sporting events are free to students on campus.
We also have 23 club Sports 56 Intermural Sports Club sports are competing in other institutions, intermural sports organs. Other BGSU students. This weekend we did a great presentation or a web and are on our intermural Sports Wellness connection as well as our club sports. If you're interested that definitely check that out was about 30 minutes to learn how to get involved in those organizations, so make sure you do that now. We have over 400 student organizations so maybe if sports aren't your thing, we have plenty of other opportunities. Whether it comes to Greek life fraternities.
Rudy's on campus service based learning. We even have a lot of religious groups on campus as well. So really no matter what background you're coming from or what you want to get involved here on campus with Bowling Green State University will have that here at BGSU.
Focusing a little bit to majors now, I don't know if some of you have been sharing. You know, maybe what you're looking for in terms of a major or if you're still kind of deciding a lot of times, students that are that have not applied to a college or University yet are kind of hooked up on that major. In my biggest piece of advice is don't worry about that. And we'll talk about that here in a second, but BGSU has over 200 different academic programs we offer, ranging from several different colleges as well as our honors college. The Honors College will give our students a little bit of an extra kind of.
Challenging academic experience, not through busy work, but the classes will be more discussion based. You're working on an honors project by the time that you complete your four years here at BGSU, and so if you're used to taking those honors or AP classes and you like that classroom environment, definitely check out our honors. But Bowling Green State University offers an array of different majors where the top teacher producer in the state, Ohio. We have one of the top College of businesses within the State of Ohio ranking number one specifically for accounting and #14 in the country for supply chain management, Bowling Green State University has the largest.
Define art in this state. Ohio and Ashley, renowned College of Musical Arts, right here in our campus where one of four universities in the country that has an active BCI crime labs. We offer bachelors degrees in Frederick Sciences, Biology, chemistry, examination. We even have an airport on our campus and offer aviation degrees and so whether it's biology, chemistry, architecture or glass blowing on our campus, you're going to meet students from a lot of different backgrounds. Here at BGSU. Now back to understanding. You know, maybe you don't know exactly what you want to be when you grow up, and that's totally fine.
We have the deciding student program, so you can apply to Bowling Green State University without a plan, major or intended major. This deciding student program will work one on one with our students and help you identify what do you want to be when you grow up, or what are some important things to you. What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses, and how can we find a career for you at Bowling Green State University or a pathway to that career here at Bowling Green State University. And so our number one program for incoming students last year was deciding student program. So we're really excited because students identify us as a school.
Don't know that they'll build their their resume as an individual as a professional when it comes to academics, but also will take care of you and help you identify what is that passion. What is that that future career path for our students?
Now, if you like what you've seen so far, or possibly what you've heard, we want you to take that next step and apply and so through that application process you are basically raising your hand and saying, hey, I am interested in BGSU. Just by completing that application does not mean that you have to come to BGSU. It allows us to see if you qualify for financial aid. It allows us to get you that financial aid package. It allows you to start taking those next steps just in case if you want to join us in the fall. So don't think that just by applying.
Keyon Camden
03:09:47 PM
if you have already applied, let me know that also!
Binds you to come to BGSU. Apply to Bowling Green, applied to three other schools. Really kind of get a good scope on on what are your next opportunities after high school graduation. Now the way that you can apply to Bowling Green State University is through our website sobgsu.edu/apply. I'm sure that somebody can go ahead and drop that link into the chat. So then that way if you want to do it after the presentation, you're more than welcome to do so. But then also, we're on the common application now. If you're only applying to BGSU, or if you're only applying to maybe two or three schools.
Keyon Camden
03:10:18 PM
If you are ready to apply today, here is the link to do so! https://admissions.bgsu.edu/apply/
I encourage you to go through our website. Our website will take you 10 to 15 minutes. There's no essay. There's no letters recommendation. It is freeware, waiving the application fee and so if you haven't applied yet at this presentation, head over that link, complete. That application will get that in and then we can start working about those next steps and what those next steps entail is getting your credentials submitted to BGSU. So for the fall of 2021 students, I know that we had some some early birds, some fall 2020 students in here today, but as it regards or as relates to our fall of 2021 students.
When you submit that application, you'll be asked a question. Are you planning on submitting a test score to BGSU for review? You are more than welcome to submit an AC T or S80 if you been able to take it, but if you experience a hardship due to COVID-19 and were not able to take that AC TRS 80, that is completely fine. So on the application you'll check that you are going to be utilizing that test waiver, but once you submit that application, what you'll need to do is reach out to your high school and get that official transcript submitted to BGSU. Now that does have to be official meaning that it has to come from somebody that works at your school.
You're counting office registrar, your assistant principle, whoever it is that at that administers and send those transcripts out. Make sure it's coming from them directly now. One thing that you do want to mention that if you have not completed the common application, so if you apply through our website, make sure that you let your counselor know that you applied through website and that they submit that not through the common application. Now, if you do have questions about getting those documents submitted to us, you can always reach out to our office, your personal admissions counselor. We can help you along that process, but it's really important that you apply to BGSU.
You get those credentials submitted now. If you are submitting your AC TRS 80, the best way to go about doing that is going through a CT website. If you took the AC T or the S80 or College Board website to submit that officially, do Bowling Green State University now. Once we get that application, once we get those credentials that we're looking for, we are rolling admissions, which means that we will make a decision within 24 to 48 hours of receiving all those credentials here at BGSU, and so we're not going to make you wait three months to hear from us.
About your admission decision, we want to get you that admission decision. We want to admit you as soon as possible. That way we can start working on the financial aid the other next steps we need to start worrying about.
Now, like I mentioned before, is after you apply after you get accepted, what's that next step and that is weighing those decisions and looking at that financial aid. Now the first thing that it will typically do is we'll look at the breakdown of the cost summary. Now, as you can see, it's broken down by Ohio residents and non Ohio residents as a public institution. We do have a non residents feet now. It's very very identical as you look the tuition and fees are the same. The biggest difference for out of state students is that you have it that non residency of or just about $8000.
Per year room and board meal plan, you get to choose exactly what level meal plan you're looking for, as well as the.
You choose to live on campus now. If you live within 50 or 55 miles of campus, you can choose to commute to BGSU, so that definitely is an option, but this will give you a good look at what will that? That yearly cost be here at Bowling Green State University before we move on, I do want to note that we have the Falcon tuition guarantee. The Falcon tuition guarantee basically states whatever you pay that very first year. That very first that freshman year here at Bowling Green State University is what you'll pay in your 2, three, and four BGSU ranks number one in the state of Ohio for affordability and value education.
It is so important to us to make sure that higher education your bachelors degree is affordable and you're getting the most of that education. So we're really excited about that price point that we have for students, but also all those things that we built into tuition here at BGSU that make that tuition definitely worth it.

Here is the cost breakdown for those interested! https://www.bgsu.edu/admissions/cost-summary.html
Now, something that you've probably heard before is the faster, the faster. If you're not familiar is the form that you complete to submit to colleges and universities that will identify your financial need or the level of financial need that you might have. Now some of you might be thinking, well, I don't know if I'm going to receive any merit based or I'm sorry. Any need based scholarships or grants, so I'm not going to submit that that fast, but my role, my general rule that I always tell students is that no matter what, submit the fast. But it will help you. I have an idea of how to finance their education.
When you submit that fastball review for loans grants scholarships, one really important thing is that for those loans, if you complete the faster, you'll be offered the subsidized, unsubsidized loan as well as the parent plus loan. A lot of times those interest rates are better than what you can get out of private bank, so even if you are looking for loans to help finance your education, it's nice to complete that fast. So then that way you have options you can shop around. You can see what you're being offered through the federal government, but then you can maybe go to your local bank or your local credit union and look at what kind of interest rates you can get through them and so.
Just by completing the Fasfa does not mean that you have to take out those student loans, but it does give you the chance to get that official financially package from BGSU as well as saying if you if you qualify for any additional grants and scholarships Now the fasfa is also important to submit once you apply to BGSU because we will only make financially packages 1st instead of been admitted to BGSU. So it's so important to get that application for admission submitted. Get those documents submitted then. That way our financial aid office or student financial aid office.
And go ahead, review that Fasfa and give you that financial aid package and so this is really, really important. Second step after being admitted to BGSU is getting that information to us. Now affording education. You know a lot of times when you go to our website. I'm not going to lie to you. A lot of students have not applied yet or the students have not applied yet. You've missed the boat on our merit based scholarships, but just knowing that there's a lot of ways that you can stay connected and and still apply for scholarships and work on campus and an find that income sees me while you're here at BGSU.
Over 4500 students work on our campus. Our students are working in every facet. Every area of campus. Personally, I worked in the campus tour guide. I worked in the admissions office as a student at a couple friends that work for campus operations and they went around and completed work orders for painting on campus, and so whatever skills you might have or things that you might be interested in, we were. We will have some positions for you here at BGSU where you can earn some income in weather. Put that to some kind of miscellaneous things that maybe it's going to go off campus to eat.
Or grab a coffee with some friends. Or if you want to put that money towards your tuition and fees, you can do that as an employee on campus and then also the searchable scholarship guide like I mentioned before January 15th was our deadline for many of those scholarships, but just know that during your sophomore junior and senior year here at BGSU, more scholarships will become available and so for students that already applied to the suitable scholarship guide before January 15th, they did not apply for any or every scholarship that's awarded to students over the four years at BGSU.
To be honest, more scholarships open up that sophomore year junior senior year for our students as they continue on and get further into your program. So even though you missed the scholarship deadline for this year, just know that in Year 2, three and four, there's plenty of opportunities for additional scholarships as well as working on campus.
Now, if you're ready if you've taken those next steps and you're saying hey Drew, Bowling Green State University is where I want to spend the next four years, we can help you do that. You'll go ahead and complete that housing application if you're choosing to live on campus and then you'll also register for Orientation Now this is. These are important steps because it tells me or your personal missions counselor that you are coming to BGSU in the fall and so once we get through the application phase, once we get through the financial aid and then you determine BGSU is your nest or is your future?
The next four years we can help you take those next steps in the forms of your housing payment, as well as registering for orientation.

Now committing to BGSU has never been easier! If you are ready to commit, hit this link and follow the steps! https://www.bgsu.edu/admissions/commit.html
Now staying connected, like I said at the very beginning is so important now in the chat, I'm sure that my my colleagues can go ahead and drop the link to connecting with your counselor. Now every single one of you, whether you're from in state at a state Columbus area, Cleveland area, Northwest Ohio, you have a personal admissions counselor in with this. Personal missions counselor is going to be a resource that you can always go to it.
Keyon Camden
03:18:39 PM
if you are not sure who your admission counselor is, check out this link to find out who that is so that you can reach out to them! https://www.bgsu.edu/admissions/contact-us/find-your-counselor.html
Give questions about taking that next step. Complete that application. Don't know what you need to do next? Reach out to your personal missions counselor. Think you're faster has been submitted to BGSU but you want to double check you can reach out to your your your personal missions counselor. To do that. And so if you ever need anything within our office admissions, you have a go to person within our office admissions that is there to help kind of hold your hand throughout this process. Whether you're a first generation student or you've had brothers and sisters of them have gone off to college, we've seen students come from every different background, so let us know what you're thinking. Let us know what your questions are.
So then that way we can definitely help you out, but one what we were talking about is that BGSU team and and you know that one person, that personal missions counselor might not be a team 'cause it's only one person. But what do we mean by that team? Even our academic colleges, student life, financial aid. We're all here to help you out and so definitely take a look. Take a look at bgsu.edu/virtual. I know that this weekend we have a lot of great presentations, but throughout the spring into March, April, may we're going to continue to do presentations over what should be kind of top of mind.
Residence life financially to all those things and so let your BGSU team help you. Let your personal missions counselor help you kind of help you through this process and make sure that BGSU can be that right choice or that right direction.
Over 300 students every single year. I'm sorry over 300 employers are providing experiences through our Falcon internship guarantee the Falcon internship guarantee is really unlike any other program within the state. Ohio. We're giving our students a chance to do mock interviews, building that resume, writing that cover letter from the very first semester. Now you might not really know what your major is, or you might not know exactly what kind of internship you're looking for, but we really start early to help kind of crafting and honing that skill. That way, once you're ready for that internship, you have all those butterflies out. You know how to execute and get that done.
We have worldwide alumni over 180,000 Falcons across the world. So if you want to stay in Northwest Ohio if you want to stay in Ohio, the Midwest, the United States, we have Falcons everywhere that can help our students. And like I said, the proof is really in the pudding. Over 97% of our graduates are. They employed, are in Graduate School or start their own business within six months of graduation and so that is a staff that we're really excited about because these students not every single student comes to BGSU or starts college. Knowing exactly what their path will be once they walk across the graduation stage.
But we want students to know that we will help you. We will assist you as much as we can during your four years here on campus to make sure that once you walk across that graduation stage, you are either have a job, are in Graduate School, or you know how to execute that pathway. After walking across the graduation stage. So that ends a formal presentation so I can go ahead and invite key on back on the screen. If you have any questions, feel free to stick around and ask those and we'll see where that takes us.
So it looked like everyone was tuned in pretty much the entire time. Not a lot of questions were asked. I didn't have any to present to you at the end, but I do want to ask if there's any anyone that joined late. Do you guys have any questions that potentially would like us to talk about right now while we're alive?
Give it about a minute, minute and a half.
Yeah, and all those questions come in. I know I emphasize this enough, but key on the last week that he posted is to find your your counselor. And I can't stress that enough if you have not applied to BGSU yet, you know. Reach out to your your personal missions counselor that they can be there to help walk you through the application. If you want that to happen or or really answer any kind of those next step questions that will help you complete that application. So make sure that you know if you have any take away to use that link to find who that is to make sure that we can assist you at the best of our ability.
