Hi, I'm Joshua Messina. I'm from Chicago Illinois. And I've committed to the Cedair Fair Resort and Attraction Management program.
OK, So what is transfer credit? Obviously that's the biggest question, right? Transfer credit is essentially any type of college credit that is earned A1 institution that you are looking to send to another institution. So I like to say this a lot. Our local students go to one of our local community colleges will use Owens Community College as an example. They take their class there through high school. Whether it's a business course or an English course or anything like that, they can send their transcripts over 2 BG to have that credit transferred over. So that's essentially what is transfer credit.

State of Ohio has a lot of things that they help with the transfer credit idea, but essentially it can transfer from any institution, and there are a few policies here at BG that we have which we'll talk about later on in the presentation. But essentially it is college credit that you have earned you are transferring from a different institution to Bowling Green State University, so you'll see next the types of different transfer credits that we offer. Anything that you take through college courses is considered transfer credit. You know those dual enrollment college credit.

Ali Tracy
10:04:08 AM
Thanks everyone for joining us - excited to share some helpful info on transfer credit today :)
Last classes that you're taking in highschool. Anything you take through Advanced Placement. If you take that exam. Same thing with cleft or any type of military experience. So all of that is here and there are different types of credit that you have that you can earn while you are here at the gym.
Caleb Lorenzen
10:04:27 AM
Hello! My name is Caleb Lorenzen and Im from Macomb, Illinois. I plan on majoring in International Studies.
OK, so putting this out there, I don't know how many we have, but I'll get the big question we have is oh, I may have earned an associates degree while in high school. I took a few classes. Am I a transfer student at Bowling Green State University? We define a transfer student as anyone who has taken 12 or more college level credits.
And they've earned those credits after graduating high school. So if you took 25 or 70 credits or whatever you took while in highschool, those do not count towards the requirements of being a transfer student. Anything taken after high school. So like if you graduated at last May, and you took twelve credit hours in the summer, then you're considered a transfer student it. Same thing would happen if you ended up going down the same route this year, graduating in May, taking classes over the summer. You would end up becoming a transfer student if you took 12 plus hours.
David Johnston
10:05:18 AM
Those college credit plus in dual enrollment classes that you have taken in high school do not count towards a transfer student status, so just make sure you keep that in there. So if you haven't applied to BG yet or you decide you're going to apply to BG, that will obviously help you to decide you're playing as a freshman or my applying as a transfer student.
Now we talk about the kind of credits that will transfer to BG. The biggest thing is that alone looking at this, especially with the college level courses at these courses have to be successfully passed in order to transfer to BG.
They also have to be college level courses, so a lot of times will have students who need help or assistance in math or English. And then maybe they're taking a developmental course. Prepare them for college level course. What's really important is that you know that any type of remedial or non developmental course will be marked as non transferable to BG. It needs to be 101 thousand. Any type of specific college level course in order for you to transfer it to BG. In addition anything that you.
Dear hiring, so anything essential that you've passed will transfer to Bowling Green.
One big caveat with that is that yes, it may transfer to Bowling Green, but certain majors may require that you have a C or higher in the class, or as a prereq. Anything like that. Just know that yes you can get credit for that course, but it may not apply to your specific degree or your major here at PG, depending on the particular class that you took, or you know where you are in your major and then in addition for college level courses, credits need to be coming from regionally accredited institutions, so I know that that could be really confusing to students when they hear. Well, my school was accredited.
Blah blah yeah so make sure that it's coming from one of the regional accreditations and then we know it will transfer to BGS some sort of credit.
In addition, Advanced Placement, a lot of students take AP courses in high school. Anything that you took the exam for after passing, and you get a three or higher, those will transfer to BG. There are definitely links online to help you figure out how they transfer to BG, but anything you earned A3 or higher and will come over towards college credit.
Ali Tracy
10:07:28 AM
If you're not quite sure if you're going to be a "transfer" student, you can email me at ralison@bgsu.edu
Madison Schroer
10:07:50 AM
Will CCP Credits from University of Akron transfer?
Lindsay Harris
10:07:50 AM
Here is the link to how the AP test scores transfer to BGSU https://www.bgsu.edu/catalog/academic-policies/advanced-placement.html
In addition, CLAP is another option for students to take. If you feel like you're successful and competent in one subject, you can take that. Scores vary. Usually it's anywhere between a 50 or something or higher, but each club score varies with that too. And in addition, military work, so we know that there are students who are who will maybe possibly up to go into the military or go to basic training. You know, do Army National Guard, anything like that. If you have any type of experience in the military, you can send us your joint service transcript JST.
That will be set for looking at how those credits transfer into give you credit for what you earn while you were in the military.
Ali Tracy
10:08:27 AM
@Madison - yes! Tony is going to speak about a resource called Transferology, so you can see exactly how your courses at UA will transfer.
The biggest important part is your credits will not transfer until an official transcript is received. You may have it on your high school transcript. You may have, you know, like one institutions college credits on another institutions transcript, we need official transcripts from every institution you took college level courses at in order to be able to award you credit where you've earned that credit. So just keep that in mind and then if you haven't sent those and you're done, now you can go ahead and send those. We would love to, you know, be able to evaluate the credit as soon as possible.
But you know, make sure that you just know every single thing will be sent in order for you to earn that.
OK, how do I credits transfer? It's probably one of the biggest questions that everybody has we at BG try to help you as much as possible with determining how credits will transfer. 2 Bowling Green State University. One of the things is through our transfer equivalency guides. Now we know that there are probably a lot of you from out of state or from other community colleges. We may not have. We are a small team as Ali introduced us this morning. We are three people. We only have transfer equivalency guides for select Ohio Community colleges right now.
Ali Tracy
10:09:17 AM
HELPFUL LINK ALERT - here is where you can find our equivalency guides: https://www.bgsu.edu/admissions/apply-now/transfer-students/transfer-of-credits/General-Education-Transfer-Equivalency-Guides.html
So those are online. I know the link will be sent at some point with one of my moderators, so feel free to check those out just to see how they transferable. It's great about these transfer equivalency guides as they are exactly like you see on the screen. I know the picture might be relatively small, but they show how our general education, what we call the GPS at Bowling Green, what you classes you can take at one institution to transfer back to BG. So on the screen here you see NW State Community College over in Archbold, Ohio.
Emma Ray
10:09:44 AM
Will I need to get a transcript from BGSU for CCP?
Asher Raymond
10:09:55 AM
So are credits from a local community college OUT of state still fair game?
Emma Bell
10:09:59 AM
Do we need to have those official transcripts sent directly from the colleges, or can we request those and send them?
Lindsay Harris
10:10:02 AM
@Emma, you have to request your transcripts to be sent. The colleges will not send them
It's one of our local community colleges. We work really well with them, but on there you'll see that you know these are the classes and how they transfer English composition. English 113 will transfer over as public speaking like you'll see 111 composition one transfers to BG's writing 11/10 introduction to academic writing. So make sure that you're checking those out and I know again they can be a little harder to understand, but please feel free to reach out if you do have those questions specifically, but we try to lay it out as best as we can write. You know the left hand side of that.
I'll show your Community College the right hand side will show how it transfers to Bowling Green and where it applies in our general education.
Ali Tracy
10:10:50 AM
@Asher - as long as you are following general education requirements, we are required to accept into our gen eds. Some out of state schools are on Transferology too!
Now for everybody else, you got the wonderful world of anybody from out of state. Things like that you can use transferology. Www.transferology.com will directly show you how classes do transfer from your institution to Bowling Green so that top picture on there is just a screenshot of what your it's going to look like when you enter transferology. Transferology is a free website for students, so feel free to sign up. Register all you have to do is put in.
Katie Roy
10:11:14 AM
For AP tests, do you need a report directly from College Board or is a high school transcript with the scores on it acceptable?
Lindsay Harris
10:11:16 AM
@katie, you will want to check with your high school but you will probably have to send your scores from College Board
Asher Raymond
10:11:18 AM
Awesome thank you!
All of the classes you have taken. You'll select your Community College so you'll see in the screenshot it I put down Owens Community College. You'll put this semester. You took the course if you took it and follow 2019 follow 2020 and the specific course you took. Then you'll see a list of all the classes that were offered and you just click the plus button. You can do that for all the community colleges, so you'll see that in there I put in. I took AP United States history. You know government. I took astronomy at Owens in psychology and then at Terracita comp one and whatever else is on there.
Allie Glass
10:11:36 AM
can we have the transcripts sent to Common App?
David Johnston
10:11:38 AM
@Emma Ray: If your CCP Courses are through BGSU, you do not need to send a transcript, as we already have them!
Too small for me to see right now, but it's there, I promise. And So what you'll do is you'll add that all in there and then you'll just click search for matches. It's great about this, as it will provide you every school that will have matches for you. Now, if you're specifically looking at Bowling Green, make sure to look at Bowling Green.
Katie Roy
10:11:47 AM
Got it! Thanks!
Ali Tracy
10:11:55 AM
@Allie - yes, you can send transcripts through the Common App!
Just click the button and then you'll get that information on the bottom part of the slide, so it shows you exactly how these credits are transferring it. So this is where you can also find out Clip Advanced Placement, any type of military credit. All of that will show up in here as well, so you'll see on here Advanced Placement as long as that United States history course is discussed successfully passed, I'll have you'll have credit for history 1250 and 1260, so it's a great way to make sure that you're seeing specifically how those transfer and then you can take that and really look at how specifically it will affect your major.
I I know that again, it's kind of small. Hopefully the screenshots will help you with that, but again, Transferology is also really great because they have tutorial videos to teach you how to use it, and so there's a lot you can do with transferology and it's just really exciting. And what's great for all of our out of state students is that every school in the state of Ohio as public school pretty much uses transfer allergy. There are a lot of out of state schools that use it also specifically over in Illinois. I'm in different states like that and so feel free to check and see if it's on there.
Jack Daschbach
10:13:00 AM
If we filled out the bgsu application through your website, how do we check if you have our transcripts? If you do not, do we request our counselors to do so?
The biggest thing you're going to see is that it will tell you if we have equivalencies for those courses, so you'll see whether it's a direct equivalency, whether it's a miss or whether it's a. Maybe there's a lot of times we don't know specifically what that class is going to transfer as, so it's important to take a look at all of that before your official evaluation is done. In case you need to submit a course syllabus. So obviously your professors will go over course syllabi at the beginning. Make sure you're saving that information, because it might help us evaluate that course once we get to.
Emily Piekenbrock
10:13:27 AM
If we took a class through a college but that specific course isn't on the transfer guide, can we still get credit for it?
Ali Tracy
10:13:33 AM
@Jack - you can check with your personal admissions counselor to confirm which transcripts we have or are still missing!
Once you get to BG and again what's great about Transferology is that you can use this for any school. So whether you choose Bowling Green or whether you don't choose Bowling Green, you can plug that into see how it transfers to any and every school that's utilizing transferology as some sort.
I know that that seems to be a lot of information in a very small amount of time. I see the chat is active right now, which is fantastic.
Just you know, looking at how credits transfer all that stuff, it is important to see how your credits transfer. We want to make sure that you are, you know, successfully bringing over the credits that you earn. So definitely make sure you're utilizing. If you are a senior, make sure you're utilizing just to see how it affects your major. If that's a big impact on how and what school you're looking at, see how those credits transfer in, see how it's going to impact your major. If it doesn't, maybe cut down as much time as you want, like you can reevaluate.
David Shuppert
10:14:25 AM
Does grade transfer or just credit?
Ali Tracy
10:14:41 AM
@David - just credit!
All of that on there also, if you've completed your course is like let's say you're at three different institutions. If you completed it at 2, send in that official transcript ASAP so we can get everything evaluated for you so that you see what that looks like and then just don't stress about it like you took the classes you earned. The grades were excited to give you credit where you earned it, so definitely just make sure that you take some time, send everything and make sure you're just earning as much credit as possible for all the work that she did.
Madison Schroer
10:14:50 AM
How do we know if it will transfer into our major?
You know you're part of the transfer team, Allie. What do you? What kind of tips do you have for these students?
David Johnston
10:15:07 AM
@Emily P - If you cannot make that determination from Transferology, try to collect a syllabus from that course and work with your Academic Advisor here at BGSU to see if credit can be transferred
Lindsay Harris
10:15:21 AM
@Madison, you will be able to chat with an advisor to see how they play into your major
Oh man Tony, that is a wealth of information and like you said it's a lot right because some of you might have a Peace Corps AP score of three or higher is going to earn you credit. Have it sent. Somebody asked my AP credits. Can you take them off of my high school transcript or should I have College Board sent them? I would have College Board sent them. We want to make sure that we get you credit where credit is due, so absolutely have it come from the official source and I think that's something important. That's a tip, is that hey, you may have CCP credit with multiple schools?
Nicolas Byrne
10:15:27 AM
Can you still use transferology if we are in-state? Or is that a whole different process?
Caleb Lorenzen
10:15:35 AM
If we take the AP exams in May, but dont get the score results until after we graduated, does that count toward the 12 credits before being considered a transfer student?
Lindsay Harris
10:15:58 AM
@caleb, AP scores do not effect you being a transfer student or not.
So you might be taking CCP through Bowling Green through Owens Community College through University of Finley. And so you have to request transcripts individually from each school so we can take even though they all may be listed on your high school transcript, we have to have them come directly from the source, so I think that's a big tip. Is making sure that you remember to request them 'cause again, your high school guidance counselor is there is a great supporter for you, but ultimately at the end of the day they are not going to be hunting down every college transcript.
David Johnston
10:16:01 AM
@Nicolas: Transferology works for both in-state and out-of-state students
Or you or every test score that you have, so making sure you have a checklist of things to request, but also timing.
Kara Ziolkowski
10:16:10 AM
We can’t hear Ali
A lot of times students want to know should I send my transcripts now? When is the appropriate time to send them?

10:16:31 AM
Here is the link for transferology https://www.transferology.com/school/bgsu
Lexi Black
10:16:46 AM
Will this presentation be available after this prez is done?
Answer is usually it depends, but for high school students, if you've already completed, you know college credit plus dual enrollment AP and you're done with it, send send them now so we can get those evaluated so your advisor knows before you come to meet with them, were meeting with them virtually that hey, it's already been handled. However, if you're still taking CCP credit somewhere, wait until final grades are posted. Now that might not be till May or June and then the transcripts take a little bit of time to get to us.
Katherine Fischer
10:16:58 AM
Is there a cap on the number of credits we can bring in to BGSU?
That's another piece is where do we send transcripts? Transcripts can be sent electronically, that's preferred. They get here a lot faster than physical, but we know some schools are old school and they will only send them in the Mail. So when you request these transcripts folks just make sure you're asking the questions when you request them. How are they being delivered? Because again, we get. Sometimes. Students said, well, I requested this transcript. You know, two months ago it's like. Well then we should have it by now. There must have been something that went wrong there, so making sure that you know how they're being sent so we can kind of track him.
David Johnston
10:17:27 AM
@Lexi: We'll post all of the recordings on the BGSU Presidents' Day website by this Tuesday! Be sure to check back then: https://www.bgsu.edu/admissions/presidents-day
David Johnston
10:17:47 AM
You can find your counselor here: https://www.bgsu.edu/admissions/contact-us/find-your-counselor.html
Dylan Holsapple
10:17:50 AM
Do transfer credits count for BG Perspective Requirements?
And again, someone asked, how do I know if you have them, you have a personal admissions counselor here at BGSU, so please reach out to them. Maybe David or Lindsey can grab you the link here and post it in the chat of the admissions counselor contact site. That would be awesome so you all hopefully know who your admissions counselor is. 'cause you get lots of emails from them. But if you need to find your admissions counselor, reach out to them and say hey, do you have my transcript from XYZ Community College and they can check our system to ensure that?
Lindsay Harris
10:18:03 AM
@Dylan, it depends on the courses but yes they can
Zane Wallace
10:18:10 AM
Is there a specific email address we have the colleges send the transcripts to, is it to our admissions counselor?
And the other thing, just to say the other thing, just there out there is that we always talk a lot about transferring your credit over. Yes, you're you do have a GPA from was classes that you took through CCP or dual enrollment or anything like that, but that GPA does not specifically transfer over to BG. So like if you didn't do as well as you wanted to 'cause you were like, you know a sophomore in high school taking college level courses? That's completely understandable. If you pass the course, the credit will be transferred over.
Lindsay Harris
10:18:28 AM
@Zane, you can send all transcripts to choosebgsu@bgsu.edu
I saw also in there that there was a question about a cap on the amount of classes that you can transfer into BG as a CCP student there is no cap. If you are still a junior and you're looking to take as many courses as possible, please do so. We want you to bring in as much credit as possible. That's why we offer all these resources for you to see how they transfer it and that is the specific question that we get a lot. So it is important just to kind of if you do have questions, you can always reach out to us, I mean.
Zane Wallace
10:19:05 AM
Okay, thank you.
We might not be specifically your personal admissions counselor, but we work very closely with that team. We are one giant happy admissions team here at BG, and we want to help you the best way possible at into becoming a Falcon. So those are some tips.
We have some more questions in the chat. I feel like y'all might just benefit from hearing these questions, so if you have the time to hang tight with us, Tony posted contact information there or or the website to apply. So if you have not already submitted your application, it's free right now. So absolutely there is no harm in submitting an application to BGSU so you can apply for free. We know that many of you have applied actually already and been admitted. Congratulations to you.
Lindsay Harris
10:19:42 AM
Here is the link to apply as well https://admissions.bgsu.edu/apply/
Ali Tracy

https://www.bgsu.edu/admissions/commit.html
If you are ready to kind of take those next steps with BG, there's the application link. And here's the commitment link. So if you're ready to say I'm a Falcon, absolutely make sure you go on there. You can commit by either making your housing payment if you're staying on campus this fall, or you can register for sore, which is our student orientation. Advising, registration one day orientation over the summer will have some on campus, some virtual, so whatever meet your needs, but wanted to make sure we go through an answer. All of the questions that we see flooding in. These are really great questions guys.
Jackie Stayrook
10:20:26 AM
Do you get a different amount of class credits at BGSU depending on the scores, i.e. 3 or 4 or 5?
Lindsay Harris
10:20:45 AM
Here is the AP link https://www.bgsu.edu/catalog/academic-policies/advanced-placement.html
Um, so question from Jackie. Do you get different amount of class credits at BG? Depending on your AP scores, a three or four or five? The answer to that is yes, they've been depends on the class, so there is a website. If Lindsey or David can find that the AP scores, there's a link that they can drop in the chat for you and that will kind of show you equivalent. Kind of like the equivalency guide. If you get a three. Here's the credit you're going. If you get four or five in AP government, here's what you're going to get. So yes.
Chloe Ballow

I’m planning on majoring in Forensic Science with a minor in Chemistry, joining the FS Learning Community and applying for the towers dorm.
No, I mean no. We want you to send that whenever. So whether you decide to send that before you start at PG, if you'd forget over the summer 'cause you're having such a good time finally being able to do things, hopefully this summer, you can wait till you're at PG and send those over. It's really up to you. And when you send that over. But the biggest thing is that if you took a class such as composition one and you're trying to jump into composition two, we cannot put you into comp 2.
Until you've completed that prereq. So if it is a prerequisite course, that's why we want to see your transcripts as early as possible.
And yeah, we have students that actually forget they have taken credit and then their advisor goes to schedule them. And they're like, wait, I already took that, so yes, it is helpful to just send them as soon as you think about it. But yeah, there's not a deadline to have credit in. It's just if you want that credit applied towards your BGSU degree. We don't want you have retaking classes, absolutely.

Do we still have to take the placement test if we have taken Comp. I and Comp. II?
Madison is asking, do we still have to take the placement test if we have component come to a nice perk, you do not need to take the writing place then. So if you have comp one or comp two you guys are doing yourself a favor and you want me to take that writing placement on your on your my BGSU so yay for that Tony. Somebody had mentioned you know I'm in forensic science. There are some programs at BG that while we say your grades don't transfer right, your credits transfer and fulfill.
Our requirements, however, some majors may be looking at their grades. So do you want to talk about that and kind of the implication?
Yeah, so I mean again. As we said, GPA doesn't specifically transfer over, but we do have some majors at such as computer science, forensic science, some of our education programs, nursing that are specifically going to look at the grades you earned. In particular courses. Again, you may have to have a C or higher in a course to be able to get in.
There may be a few implications that you know initially. Maybe you dictated the IT, of course, but you know you'll retake it at PG or you right up there. See, you know if they're dual enrollment things like that, there's a few major such as our inclusive early Childhood program that will look at every single class. So yes, as I do say, don't stress about those credits, you still wanna obviously do well in those courses. You know there does come implications if you do fail a CCP course, at least in the state of Ohio. Things like that. But there are grades that may impact you, so we definitely want you to like we want to see that you know.
We're going to give you the clearest picture we can as soon as we see everything, so that's why it's important that you know before you do these advising questions, that you are these you know, you're advising appointments that will happen over the summer. Is that you send it to the official transcripts to get your full picture of what everything looks like. So know that again, you know we will be able to transfer the credit, and it may or may not impact some of those specific majors, but you know, again, luck in less, you come in with like a full on associates degree. You shouldn't have any issues when it comes to this particular courses or majors here at PG.

How does the amount of credit hours you have transferring in from CCP affect what year you're considered? For example I have 54 credit hours from CCP. So would I still be considered a freshman or sophomore?
Great really good question from Ashley. How does the amount of credit hours I've I'm transferring from CCP affect the class standing that I'm in? So if I have 54 credit hours and my considered a freshman? Or am I considered a sophomore? So I'll let you address that Tony.
Jack Daschbach
10:24:32 AM
Where can I find more information about the placement test?
So yeah, the amount of credits that you're bringing in. So let's say you do bring in 54 credits. Yeah, you are going to essentially come in as a first time student tabiji, but your class standing will end up showing sophomore status, so that's what's really great. Again, like we wanted, we want you to utilize all these credits you took through CCP dual enrollment. All that other stuff.
It will impact that a little bit, and so like when you are going to register if you register us that you could register a little bit earlier as a sophomore. But again, when you're coming in as a freshman from high school, it doesn't really impact when you register, but it will in the future. So yeah, it it will impact that. You're you're not going to have to do all of those credits. Those 54 are applying to your total degree here at BG, so they may not specifically again apply to your particular major, but you're adding that up. And so if you're in a major that's a little bit more flexible, you may be able to complete that degree so much quicker.
Then somebody who doesn't have those credits coming in.

@Jack, You can find more information about placement exams at this link. Math: https://www.bgsu.edu/arts-and-sciences/mathematics-and-statistics/general-math-course-info/mathematics-placement-examination.html
Yeah, and we love that for you all because you still get the perks of being an incoming freshman, meaning scholarships, meaning housing. All of the things that it's like I get to take the perks of being a freshman. But as soon as I hit my class schedule, I'm really considered a sophomore or even a junior. So yeah, y'all are doing yourselves a great service by chipping away at some of this stuff to allow you freedom to inflexibility when you get to be to make the most of your time so you don't feel is as crunched for time when you're mapping out your degree plan with your advisor and you can really take advantage of everything that's here.

Ok, thank you. Does the lack of transcripts affect financial aide? Or is it taken into account through the self reporting we do when we fill out the application?
Or you a couple more questions does and Jack. I'm not sure we might need to reach out to you. And kind of clarify, does a lack of transcripts affect my financial aid or is it taken into account through the self reporting when we fill out the application? I don't think any of your college credit prior like if you're doing CPR or dual enrollment, I don't think that has any effect on your financial aid. You know, once you start utilizing financial aid like if you were to attend.
A Community College before coming to BG, say you graduate the summer, you decide, hey, I'm going to stay local and do a Community College. You start using financial aid at that point. Yes, it'll affect your financial aid and what's available to you at BG 'cause your time Clock starts on that financial aid. But absolutely, the amount of credit or number of transcripts that you have coming in should not affect your financial aid offer at all.

I have taken Comp and Comp and Lit. Do I still have to take the placement test?
Clear I've taken comp one Comp 2 do I need to take the placement? We answered that the answer is no. You do not need to take the placement. Eric. If I'm an art major and I passed some AP test in history and Bio, will those AP scores be transferred into classes that I need to take or can it be considered elective credit?
Eric Berndt
10:26:56 AM
If I am an art major and I have passed ap tests in history or biology, will those ap scores be transferred into classes that I need to take or can it be considered an elective credit?
So the yeah again with the biggest thing with the AP is that if it will count towards your Bowling Green perspective, those general education classes. So if you took it in history and biology and you pass the AP tests, you're going to have fulfilled credit for your BGP credits. If you go over the amount of general education classes that you need, they will be thrown into the elective side, but we're going to try to utilize those college credits as best as we can to apply them to your major so they're not coming in as just elective credit.
Madison Schroer
10:27:32 AM
What placement tests do you have to take?
Um Madison. So what placements do we have to take? So again, if you have comp one or comp 2, you're exempted from the writing placement. The other place that we would have is our math, placement test, and so that's going to depend again, if you've taken any college level math, then they'll place you automatically on that. If you do not have a college level math that you're taking, it would go off of your AC T or SAT test score. We know that some students this year because of covid have gone test waiver option because they weren't able to.
They'll have you take a math placement test virtually if needed, so your advisor will let you know if you need to do that in advance of meeting with them. So writing placement, math, placement, the other piece to when we talk about specific majors, and at some colleges and some programs have unique majors and things that they look at. Foreign language is one of those that also comes up quite frequently, so making sure that you understand some of our colleges. For instance, the College of Arts and Sciences. Most programs require at least.
Two years of a foreign language, if not four years of the same foreign language, and so that's something to consider to most of you are coming straight out of the high school system, so you won't need to take a placement test for that. But sometimes we do have students who have been out of school for some time and may need to do a foreign language placement, but.
Chloe, what's the AC? T thresholds for the math placement? Well, that's a good question. I don't know that I know that.
Chloe Freeman
10:29:00 AM
What's the ACT threshold for the math placement?
I think it varies, so there is a guide that will tell you kind of how you place, but again that stuff your advisor is going to help you with and you're going to find out before.
Lindsey Lindsey says it's 22, so 22 for the math subscore.
And it's a sub score for math, so it's not a comp. So like if you didn't, you know other comprehensive you did really well in math. Great. If you didn't then.
Chloe Freeman
10:29:26 AM
Okay, thank you!
You all have phenomenal questions and we know that it's because y'all are over achievers and you're setting yourself up really, really well as you consider coming into BG, we know that you have, you know, a different level of capability. Being able to juggle college level credit and high school during a time like this is pretty impressive, and so I hope you all know that when you look back at all of this, despite the craziness, an frustration that it's, it's probably caused you. You can look back and say, like, I'm so glad and look what I did.
I mean, it's it's a big deal, so yes, and back to the placement. Lindsay did say that 22 Subscore allows you to enroll in our math 1220 OK, so.
Which is college algebra?
